Well I use to have a speaker system but sold it to build a headphone system. My headphone system cost more than my old speaker system!!!!!! All I have to do to complete a speaker system is add a power amp and speakers. The mark levinson drives power amps without a need for a pre-amp.

My setup now? Only around $200.

...but that price is soon to be almost tripled.

Seriously, Are there any headfiers who spent a few thousand $ who regret the decision???? It be interesting to find out on headfiers various opinions.

I was quit surprised when I added it up for my post. If you had asked me to make an estimate on the spot I would have said around $1,500, but as I've seen from adding up a list of everything I was almost double that.

Well no regrets here. The experience is worth every penny.

I'm not sure, but I think I may have gone a little overboard.

Well... I've simplified things a little bit recently.

mp3 player -> cable -> headphones

But that paypal money from selling all my home stuff is starting to burn a hole in my pocket... still working out what I want to spend it on though.

So right now, I guess I've only spent ~$750... ~$950 if you include what I'm carrying it in.

errr.....errrr here's is what I bought since joining headfi. I think it is all of it.

The Amps
sugden headmaster
earmax standard
earmax pro
rudistor rp5 reference
graham slee solo 2004+psu1
grado ra-1
grace 901

The Headphones
grado sr225
grado sr325
senn hd650
grado hp1000
grado rs-1

The Cables
nordost spm reference interconnect
nordost valhalla interconnect
cardas cable headphone replacement

The Sources
Musical Fidelity tri-vista SACD
DCS Delius
DCS Purcell
Mark Levinson no 31 reference transport
Mark Levinson no 30.5 reference DAC

The only thing I didn't buy was my old senn hd600's. First person to guess correctly how much all this cost me get a set of QED qunex 2 interconnects for nothing. I still want to get some more other stuff to try as well like emp anniversary, wadia cd player and ms-pro or grado PS-1........
