Holo Audio Red Streamer

OK, am no expert here - I suggest you contact your vendor here
@GoldenOne any ideas?
First thing would be to check with another DAC, see if it's a Rockna thing or a RED thing.
Though if the only issue is swapped L/R channels, easy solutions would be to just swap L/R channels via your player, cables etc

I have tried both ALT1 & ALT3 configurations. The L-R channel is still flipped. I even tried the PS audio mode, and the issue is still happening.

Are you aware that you can change the I2S pin setting on the Wavedream using the UI? One of the settings should work.

I don't have another DAC have I2S input. I tried to use Red's AES out to my Rockna DAC. No L/R flipped issue happen.

Fortunately, I only have one digital source now. I will swap my L/R interconnect cable.

Do you mean I change to PS audio mode?
No. If you have the latest Firmware running on your Wavedream, if you cycle through the menu options, you should be able to see an option where you can change the I2S config of both the I2S ports.

So now there are a few of these out in the wild I'm very interested in what difference they make - especially when used with a Holo Spring L3 KTE. I'm thinking about using one as a DDC as I have a reasonably good streamer already. Is it worth the investment? Thoughts?

If used as a DDC only you kind of skip the actual streaming functions.
Wondering
1. if there are cheaper, better options for DDC only
2. If you need a DDC at all if your current Streamer features USB as this has been confirmed to make no difference with the Holo Titanis module

When my Red eventually arrives, I will test this, as I have really good USB cables and May KTE, currently running out of M1 MacBook Pro 💻.

Sounds almost like my current setup where I skipped streamers and preferred the simplicity of switching apps on my Mac

Once properly set, streamer just get out of way and are much simpler to use then laptop IMO unless we start to fiddle with clock, cables, software etc.

Question for the group.

I bought one as soon as I could as it was on special through a local distributor and I wanted to use it as a streamer as my Innuos was located near my router in a different part of the house.

However I am now able to change my setup and have my Innuos going directly into my DAC and amplifier (both via USB) which now makes me think that I have absolutely no need for the Red.

Am I going to get anything different for adding the Red into my chain at all, or do I admit that it’s unneeded and just sell it? I fear that it was a complete late night impulse purchase 😄

Thoughts would be most welcome.

I have some Mac Mini M1 and used to put it to some distant room and connect to my DAC via various Streamer solutions.
But in all honesty I prefered the simplicity of the direct connection from Mac Mini M1 and had no downsides like bit rate limits as through Ifi Zen Stream but Red could indeed be a better way to make that connection transparent without these limits.
Still I don't know if it's worth for me as the Titanis connection is that good that actually a Streamer isn't needed for SQ alone

If there is no downside, the benefit for me will be the ability to stream from my iPhone to the streamer via Airplay, and thus my good headphone setup, allowing me to use it instead of Bluetooth headphones for watching movies.

I wonder if the Red streamer will pass DSD direct to May, which is a limitation of playing from Mac OS.
