Holo Audio Red Streamer

I have one on order (should be a week or so) but after a reshuffle of equipment I don’t actually need it anymore.

Need to find a reason to keep hold of it

I think it's the most versatile streamer with the best value for money (inside power supply).
For specific cases, this is discussed.
For an HQPlayer endpoint in DSD 256 (which remains the sweet point of this type of conversion), the ZenStream is more accessible.

What is it going to replace in the chain in your signature? Or is it going in another system?

It depends on listening tests after burn in. Right now I am using following source path: Aurender N100H>Innuos PhoenixUSB>Holo Spring 3 KTE. Main task is to test RED with i2S input on Spring 3. Current setup sounds great. Aurender (which has USB only output) to Spring 3 KTE already souded great. Adding Innuos PhoenixUSB between Aurender and Spring improved sound even more. (OK, I know. Many of you may find this hard to believe because the Titanis 2 USB input on the Spring is excellent, but I tested it and heard a clear improvement).
Now I am going to compare this pure USB setup to I2S output of RED, with and without PhoenixUSB in the chain. The better solution stays in my main speaker setup. If Holo Red-Holo Spring I2S doesn't beat the USB it will go straight to the secondary headphone setup, which is just being built right now. Sonnet Morpheus is likely to be DAC in that setup and I am strongly attracted to Holo Bliss amp for now...
I am also going to test built in streamer. I don't expect to be better sounding than Aurender, but who knows? I have to try it. So I'm in for a lot of fun

I have tried both ALT1 & ALT3 configurations. The L-R channel is still flipped. I even tried the PS audio mode, and the issue is still happening.

Can the Red stream Spotify directly from an iPhone connected to the same network without the need for a pc or mac being connected?

No problem to stream Tidal Connect and AirPlay. I have just tried this (has no Spotifi connect). Just tap to “Red” as device and hit play button. So I suppose Spotify Connect will work as well.
