I don't know.
i got my red today, and unfortunately i can't get the original Red OS to work at all, just like DietPi.
It only works with RopieXL.
I will now try Red OS again.

its strange why i get this usb redirector message when i do save settings

i set it up as mentioned

first powered it off and removed usb cable
second plugged in ethernet cable
third powered on red
fourth plugged in my usb cable to red and then to dac

That's exactly how I do it.
Fun fact: If I flash an SD card with the RedOS myself, it does not work.
I have now used the SD card that Magna sent me - it works perfectly.
Software update done, latest version loaded, this is what it looks like for me now:

I get the message also. That is applicable if you are using your Red as a DDC. I could be wrong though. And the message can be ignored.

I'm still trying to get a DietPi to work, because I've actually been using it for years.

hi, i talked to joseph @joseph69 and we went through the set up, but why does the thing circled in green alway appear in my setup and if i unmark it, it will not work

i am using the red as streamer connetced to my spring 3 dac via usb

Yes. That is your Spring. It is key that that is checked. Does anyone know if “Red Native Output” should also be checked when using Roon? I am just checking the USB box.

EDIT: I have both Native and USB checked for Roon. And I just did a quick listen to native and USB checked and just USB checked.

Sounds much better with both checked for whatever reason.

but i am not using it as a ddc nor fo i have a usb plug in usb in

i only connect usb cable after i turn on the red and i plug it into usb out only

i use my red as streamer only

This is how my USB Redirector looks. It automatically checks the Dreamus one (what is Dreamus?) when I Save and gives be the Redirector message. When I click both USB/Red and the Dreamus one the Native Red option goes away under Roon.

What is USB Redirector? I thought it had to do with the DDC way of using Red?

When I click in the USB Redirector section I get this. And Red Native is no longer available under Roon. Really not sure how things should be set to use Roon. Confusing.

Unfortunately DietPi does not work.
I don't know why, I can access it via console, I install the Roon and NAA protocol, all wonderful - as mentioned before, I've been using DietPi on the Raspberry Pi4 for years.
Unfortunately I can't see the Red in Roon, no matter what I try.
So RedOS back on the SD card - does not work...

Unbelievable.
So I downloaded the RedOS from Magna Hifi again - Roon Ready version - update is not possible, it hangs, the system also hangs when trying to save settings.
I will contact Magna-Hifi tomorrow.

Does anyone have the latest version for me that worked for me just an hour ago?

Has anyone more well versed in hardware than I am taken a look at the RED? Does the reclocking happen downstream of the USB audio device or does the pi / Linux need to be aware of the clocks? My concern is that we may be missing out by running 3rd party pi images. I don't think this is the case, but I do not know and knowing is better than not knowing.
