History of the AKG K1000?

Hi,
thanks for your reply.
The K1000 has been serviced by AKG some years ago.
They changed the cabling, so this could be the reason, that there's no serial number anymore.
Nevertheless, the pair work perfectly without any problems.

Rgds.

Hello Frankyman,
It looks to me that you own a prototype of the K1000.
Because we always used 2 of the same logo for those purposes.

I don't blame you as I can not find any information about them either, that's why I posted here for help.

Those seems to be pretty hard to drive was my Fiio X1 need to be at least 50% volume to make it loud enough to listen.

Ok here's the picture I took just now:

The K2000's came approximately 1976 on the market first time.
They was used for typical conferencing use.
It has nothing to do with HiFi or better - just for speech.
I wonder where you got these ones...
Due to the existing name "K2000" we named the "K1000" later as it is - because we believed, nobody will remember the K2000.  gggg
Best regards,
Heinz

Thanks hrklg01 for the information.

I came across those on ebay, I was looking for something cheap and unique to play about with. Those was £15 + £5 P&P. Which is not bad for £2 per unit. I bought them to mod them, as I started to be very interested on modding the housing on headphone to producing different sound. However I found the K2000 very hard to mount on my ears. So here's what I have done with them:

I still have 7 units to mess around with.

One more question hrklg01, those seems unit seems to have a metal plate on the front of the driver (Or is this the driver). Most headphone I came a cross have thin plastic driver. So what property does a metal front driver have?

  Good use of rulers........

Do they measure up..?

=) They sure do... some what.... not sure about the sound though.

Still this is my first unofficial AKG headphone, still saving up for a proper pair.

Strange things about those headphones is the sound, they don't sound bad, they just pick up the highs really well and lacking most of the lows.

Also note the headphone can be wear in an angle which means the cups kind of point into your ear.

Now I need to order new rulers.

Hi Someguy353
The front metal sheet is made with little holes to protect the very thin membrane. Also the sheet act together with the holes as acoustic low pass resonance filter.
