I have been trying to figure out the history of the Sennheiser HD 25 and the various models that have been released: HD 25-1 II, etc. It seems quite complicated. It's impressive that the original Sennheiser HD 25 was released way back in 1988!! It seemed to make a big impact then as studio monitoring headphones, and more recently the Sennheiser HD 25-1 II has had a big impact as DJ headphones, among others, winning multiple awards like the DJmag Tech Awards for Best Headphones.

I am not exactly sure how the models have changed and developed over time, and what aspects distinguish the HD 25 from the HD 25-1 II, or other models. Would love to hear from those who know the HD 25 history.

I believed the HD25 was introduced in 1988, Tyll says 1987. He's mostly reliable.

Gonna find a pair of old HD450/480 released at the same time for 10-20 bucks and do some modding. Figure they've got the same 70ohm drivers as the original HD25.
