Hisoundaudio Studio V 3rd Anniversary Edition Review

Fully agree, getting old waiting for initialization every time I start it even though the files never change.
  This.

I'm actually thinking of asking Jack if it would be possible to adapt a firmware that would:

  1. Keep the scrolling
  2. Allow the user to manually select whether or not to update the library or not.

The idea of manually updating would mean instant boot.  I'm using mine now only in folder mode - so it's a PITA waiting for the software initialisation each time it starts.  Far better for me to simply browse the folders.

Thoughts?

I tried the latest firmware and I too had to go back to the older one. The scrolling actually worked but it was very slow, about 3-4 seconds between each line. After owning the device for almost 2 years, I just found out that it supports Hi-Res files! It plays 24bit 48kHz music no problem! My 3rd Anniversary now sounds even better! Anybody tried it with the new Sandisk 128GB microsd?

Plays 24bit ..  News to me too
Does the 3rd anniversary have a special setting for this 24bit sound ?

Nope. It just play 24 48 WAV. No flac.

Thankyou and that does make sense because the occasional WAV file i have played does sound more spacious and a step up in sound quality especially through better IEMs ..
My 3rd Anniversary seems to like turning off when knocked .. and doesn't always turn back on , until i connect to power source again ?

Then it should play 24/48 flac as well. There is no way to know what is or isn't down sampled on a HiSound other that to ask them but the player isn't about trying to play everything or additional processing to do so. I believe that the DAC portion of the SOC is capable of 32 bit input so it would be more about the codecs etc. In the past, Jack from HiSound has stated the same res as I have in this thread so if we assume anything, it would be that 24/44 flac and 24/48 wav are being played native or being upsampled in the conversion process.
