I would actually not recommend Denons. From first hand experience, they tend to be very sibilant with hip hop. In addition, if the mastering is not good, the experience is extremely frustrating and is not enjoyable at all. Also, without an amp, the bass will not come to life at all. I'd say go for the Shure SRH840's. No amp required and will work well with all types of music
