Is the prestige K10 acoustically different from the original K10 ?

Good question.

No it is not different, as we wanted to keep all the past reviews and impressions applicable to the Prestige K10

Basically there are now three versions of the K10

1) K10 standard (customer picks and chooses his, her art design (hand poured acrylic shell)

2) K10 Wizard design (acoustically the same, art work/design provided by Noble (hand poured acrylic shell

3) Prestige K10 (Acoustically the same, art work at an unprecedented level. The shells are ground out of a solid block of medium; wood, wood mixtures, carbon mixtures, acrylic mixtures etc etc.  The shells are then hollowed out by hand, and the parts are mounted within the shell. The face plate is comprised of the same materials that the shell is made out of. Ultimatley the final result is a CIEM carved out of a solid block of material.

Thanks for asking.

The wood is treated through a special process, in which resin is injected via pressure into the pores of the wood.

The result is kind of a " super wood " concept, resin fused wood.

Regardless, there are other options as well, the matrix is acrylic plus a web of aluminum, NASA developed material, lightweight but stronger than usual

We also offer carbon glass, acrlic with shards of carbon fiber

Heard demo forms of the Noble 10, 8, and 6 today. I'd heard the 4 before and didn't like it much. I started with the Kaiser which sounded very nice, but a bit too rolled in the treble for me. Tried the 8 next since the card said it had more treble, and boy did it. Too much! Tried the 6 last and found them the best for me. Slight u shaped signature, but not excessive. Treble was a little more extended and smoother than my UERM but the bass might be too much. Going to have to think about acustom 6.

Maybe silicone is the way to go.

+1. Nothing happens to them in my experience. They absorb everything and no damage done so far.

So maybe silicone is a good option for me. Honestly, I just carry them hanging around my ear, and they crash into each other, and eventually cracks. The cracks are only minor, and causes to functional change, but I can see them. Are there any companies that reshells into silicone? Thanks.

Those might not be cracks at all. What it may be are superficial surface cracks in the lacquer. They look much like the cracks in a chocolate layer of an ice cream bar.

They can sometime appear after the CIEMs are exposed to temperature extremes. For example, if you set your CIEMs next to the computer exhaust of your lap top, and then move them away....

Once the CIEM cool down, there would probably be cracks in the lacquer..... (lesson learned from experience)

Custom Art, Peter. He does a remarkable job. He even remolded several Spiral Ear SE5ways (including mine). I say it that way cuz SE5way has a lot of internal wiring and very complex design.

The only problem for you that comes to my mind is, Custom Art based in Eu, Poland. If I understand correctly not really close to your place.

Then again, ultimately, my experience tells me, it provides better comfort thanks to forgiving nature of silicone and better isolation. Also more durable. So kinda like a win-win. Being said that, one day I wanna try acrylic ciem that filled with acrylic inside too, like EarSonics or FitEar from Japan.

EarSonics EMx are not anymore filled in acrylic, because of the use of vented BA transducers. Some EMx, EM2pro, EM3pro and EM32 can be filled, but you've to pay 100€ more...

From my experience isolation depends on the quality and the compression of your ear prints, then the material of the custom shell. My EM32 isolate me better than my EM4/EM6/Harmony8 Pro/Music One, because the ear prints made were compressive.

That's kinda sad to hear that they don't fill their shells anymore or they ask extra for it. However it doesn't prevent from buying EM32. What prevents me is my wallet

Is EM32 bassier than H8P?
