Please read my updated review which I posted in the HE-300 Head-Gear section under reviews. I have since updated the sound quality portion with a lot different thoughts after sitting down with the HD650, the HD600, AKG K501, 601, Q701, and the Beyerdnyamic DT880 and DT990

I'd be interested to hear what you think of the Rev 2 HE-300. From what I can tell by what you have said, the Rev 1 and Rev 2 sound a whole heck of a lot different.

Yep. Apparently the Rev 2 is strikingly similar to the HD650, which I had fallen in love with.

We'll now all I have to do is find a free pair of HD650s to compare with.

Haha, do you have a local audio store nearby by chance?

I have moon audio fairly close. It's run my Drew Baird. Actually, I just got my HE-300s from him!

I know this thread is old, but, how would they be rated for portability?  And how bad is the sound leak INTO the headphone.  If i'm on a train (i know theyre open back, but comparing to open back cans) how much of a distraction will the outside sound actually be?

These don't block sound hardly at all.

They don't fold flat, but they aren't so thick that you can't pack them in a suitcase or backpack easily.
