In regards to wanting something to drive well ... the upgrade it worth it, but it scales logarithmically. Spend £1k and it nice. Spend £12k and its godly. Spend £100K and its otherworldly! I have yet to hear the £100k. If you only have budget for £1-£2k then its easy to miss where Susvara starts to get "better than others" ... if you cant feed it right, you are better off with a lower model that will get more from the cheaper amp / DAC.
It’s highly subjective, but I would say yes. That’s with a big caveat, though. The Susvara can be run on lower tier electronics to loud volumes, but loud is only one part of the equation. The Susvara is very revealing of source chain changes and the scalability is nearly limitless. And diminishing returns certainly becomes a massive, massive factor. If you want to save yourself money, then yes, stick with the HE1K.
I swear by Midgard driving the Susvara to get it to sound at least on par with the HE1000V2 as the broke college student setup that put all his budget on the Susvara. Still though MJ3 or Flux Mentor at bare minimum full stop if you want to barely scratch Susvara in its true form
“The absolute best Susvara amplifier up to $1500. It has the power, it has the kick and dynamics, sounds fun and engaging, but it isn’t the most accurate or resolving amplifier. I see it as a cleaner version of Flux FA-10, I could easily live with it.”
You can buy one second hand for 700$.
I have its sucesor, the 3xgt which is almost 3000€ with the super charger, and it drives susvara wonderfully. The 3x is almost as powerful than the gt, but less refined. Its warmer and i can understand why sandu call it the best under 1500€.
Does anyone heard the audivina? I found them interesting for going portable with a powerful dap. But im not sure i have the guts for walking in the street with such a big cups. Anyway, im interested in how good its soundstage is compared to susvara. The only store in my city where one can demo high end hps is closed temporarily.
