HiFiMan Susvara

Yep I have both. Somehow always been hesitant to try direct from speaker taps.. Risk of blowing drivers if not careful, having to get an adaptor cable/new cable, etc etc

Has anyone tried these for the connection between the amp and headphone cable?

Or is it similar to the hifiman he+adaptor?

I remember some posts about the speaker tap to xlr adaptor cable but I can't remember the company name. Can someone point me in the right direction?

As far as I know you don't need a resistor box for SS amps unless you are worried about accidentally blowing up the driver w/ volume mistakes. Some have said it may degrade SQ too. I think most people just use an adapter cable direct from taps, LQi has a relatively cheap option:

Ah thanks man! that was the company I was looking for.

Also worth mentioning -- especially if/when you're trying to get every last ounce of performance out of a speaker amp-to-headphones setup -- is that many of the fancy headphone cable makers are able to make a custom speaker-amp adapter cable build on request.

I had one made by Lavricables using Grand 20 silver wire, and more recently, a Lazuli Reference. Currently, I'm using 3-feet of a Wireworld Nano Platinum Eclipse headphone cable that I simply had reterminated on both ends.

Also, a buddy had a JPS Superconductor adapter built to go with his Superconductor cable for his Abyss.

Yeah I was mulling over asking Pete from Triode Wire Labs or Robert from Cerious Technologies if they would consider making the adaptor cable, as I'm quite fond of their products.

I may try the lqicable first and see how it goes with the wa22 - ahb2 - TC Phi. I'm trying to decide if I should go down the speaker amp route vs just go with a wa33 which I have read are good for the TC and susvara. Of course, the wa33 is much more financial outlay than an AHB2 and an adaptor cable.. So need to do some more thinking (and stock trading)!

I had LQi silver-plated copper cables for the Susvara. Excellent cables and value. Only reason I don't have them now is I preferred silver with the Sus.

I finally gave up and I am joining the Susvara clan on Friday.
I sold couple of my headphones that were not getting much headtime to fund them.
I made sure they are the new 3.5mm connectors so I can use some of my aftermarket cables with them.

You did well. I don't care for the 2.5mm non-locking connectors. Either lock them like Sennheiser or go back to the SMA connectors. I am considering to direct wire my Susvaras as I did to one of my HE-6's. Enjoy - Lee

I used to have the original HE-6 (bought them as they came out) and also re-cabled them and went hard wire too. To my ears it help improving a little bit their sound.

I have a Wells Audio Enigma with upgrades almost to the level of Headtrip and a PrimaLuna Dialouge Premium HP. Both fed by a Bricasti M1SE DAC

I have Trevor at Norne making me a Silvergarde S4 speaker tap. Will be using with my Pass Labs X150.5. Of course, i just need to pull the trigger on the Susvara now...

Pricing is getting pretty good now on new units. I won't say it's a bargain yet, but it is out of nose bleed territory.

What is the going price now?

Congrats Jose! You'll love the Susvara. I really love the sound of the Susvara powered by my Auris Nirvana. SQ is fantastic!
