HiFiMan Susvara

I am not a big fan of the EF-1000. Overpriced in my opinion. The WA33 Is awesome. The Elite even better and must be special.
Well the EF-1000 is also a great Speaker Amp as well as a great headphone amp and if you see the insides of one in comparison to the insides of a WA33 it is far more components (top components at that) and would be far more difficult to design and build.
And yet the WA33 Elite is more expensive than the EF-1000 !
And if you buy the EF-1000 at the same time as the Susvara, you save quite a bit of money.
From the performance and build quality of the EF-1000, from my 40+ years of hifi experience, I don't think it is 'overpriced'

Even the Hifiman EF1000 with the Susvara ?

To me yes.

I’ve heard that insane Wells Stack with @HiFiHawaii808 at CanJam
Chicago - the new Head Trip III, Level II amp ($15k) + Commander, Level III preamp ($18k). To me this was also the best I’ve ever heard the Susvara. To say that it’s divine would be an understatement. Just. Amazing.

To my ears it surpassed anything I’ve heard the Susvara on - EF-1000, Riviera AFC10, my 330A speaker amp, Red October, WA33, Nirvana, Spririt Torino Sigfrid, ZOTL MZ3, Ferrum… But at this price point, it should

Some color in my CanJam Chicago impressions:

I see some user of Chord TT2 using the XLR out for Susvara. Is those port meant for that?

Does HQPlayer work with Apple Music by chance? That’s where I have my entire library
Yes, but indirectly. Using an audio loopback adapter, you can upsample any sound from the Mac with HQPlayer. I did it just for kicks to watch a few minutes of YouTube videos, movies on Netflix, and so on, but you get about 1-4 seconds of audio latency. Apple Music is fine, but the latency is still an issue when it comes to making adjustments.

Maybe the Commander preamp + your 330A speaker amp would be a good sounding match.

Sure. It’s made for efficient speakers and inefficient headphones. Consensus is that rear xlr is not enough power for Susvara or TC. I don’t think this is the case. Good pairing with Susvara. I even used the SE out for the TC. Better transparency.

The XLR out of the Chord is not enough power?...for susvara

Im going with iFi iCAN PRO Signature, only if the Diablo feels underpowered

For me, the WA33 was well built, looked better and most importantly, sounded better than the EF1000. It is cool that the EF1000 can also be used as a speaker amp, but I do not need that capability.

It's a chain issue...I can drive the Susvara well with the Hugo 2 and no clipping.
Did you try the more powered amps?

Just curious because somehow I believe you in this until I try it…with the diablo. But I just remembered that I have SE cables for the Susvara. So maybe not enough

I had the Diablo on Turbo and 12 oclock with Arya. It was enough power. But Susvara I need the 4.4 cable I guess

Enleum 23r:
"The headphone output shares exactly the same circuits all the way to the output section, and the output relay is switched and selects to output to the headphone jack when a headphone is inserted"

So its basically a speaker amp directly to headphone jack?
i don't own it but others here do so im confident they will confirm - but i believe you are correct

TT2 is a great product. Sounds great and has adequate power.

Rear XLR does: 18W RMS 8Ω

Not sure about the Diablo but wary about portable amps. I used to own one of the portable IFI amps for the Arya V2 and at the time I thought it sounded good. Once I switched to the TT2 or AHB2 it was a night and day difference.
