HIFIMAN Releases New Flagship DAP "R2R2000"

Thank you for your explanation. I am of course assuming NPAudio do listen to their work as opposed to blindly replacing components and then shipping back 🤔😅
Steve knows what he's doing, but like all in this realm it's a learning experience over time.

Damn! I'm tempted to pick one up and maybe a WM1A for modding.

It doesn't look too big really with the extended back, black matches the 2 tone red one.

Over all I like the concept of the mod, however by far I prefer the original size, being near perfect to slip into your shirt pocket. This how I deal with the battery with the power bank pretty much mirroring the R2R2K's footprint and that another 5000 mAh.

Think all are in agreement the R2R2K battery life is weak, however how they sound is top tier :sunglasses:

Really wish Hifiman would release another self contained DAP, just not into devices that require a smartphone to be useful :frowning2:

I’ve been using my modded r2r2000 loads. I’ve owned and tried many top tier and I think I prefer the sound on this. The added battery is awesome.

@Queen6 a proper hifiman dap is also a possibility, the HM1000 hymalaya I have sounds great, it's definitely giving the old pcm1704 a run for it's money if you ask me.

Plus there's a new version coming out that should rival the pcm1704uk, we just need a proper Ui and a normal DAP and hifiman should be pretty promising.

The new hiby pro 2 seems interesting too, dual akm4499ex (7 bit dac), and class A.

I will say I still find wm1a the best for me, but that's since I don't use any hard to drive gear at all. No clue how it would perform with harder to drive gear. The class D in S master definitely does some magic to staging and dynamics, the sound is a very nice mix of r2r and D/S, atleast from what I hear.

Plus the immense support from mrwalkman firmwares and the ability to mod at nayparm really makes it a superb option.

Ifi could definitely be big in the dap game if they ever decide to make one, or just a dacamp with local SD options, the ifi diablo I had in the past sounded terrific.

Hi
Is the npaudio mod worth it ?
Can you compare the sound of the stock red vs the modded one ?

Just took a look and that's one extensive mod right there. By the looks of it it should make a noticeable difference. Dual 6000mAh batteries are a nice surprise.

Has anyone replaced the battery for the r2r2000? Is there a reliable source to get good quality replacements?

Thanks
You need to find the original battery, as it can degrade the sound quality due to a bad battery controller. Or replace the controller from the original battery.

ok guess i have problem, no one is having.

i have an r2r red and it just goes crazy with screen glitching. or screen glitching and randomly moving around to different screens/options on the player.

this makes the player 300% useable/unplayable. also none of the "buttons" on the player work while this is happening. and it's even a struggle to cut the player off.

so what happens is the cut the player on and the glitching kicks in and i can't use it at all

or it starts and i'm able to use/set functions and options. and get music to play.

and a short time after that, whether it's 30 seconds or 2 minutes etc. the glitching kicks in the music gets highjacked/disappears. i have no control, of no functions. and i can't use the player at all.

the first time this happen. i gave up using the player for a few days. and used compressed air. and this gave me a few days of normal use. but now the compressed air as zero effected. and i might get a seizure looking at the screen as it glitches and rapidly speeds through selections. while providing no audio !!!!!

anyone knows what's going ? or if this can be fixed ???

i've read pages and pages in this thread and didn't see anyone say anything similar. and google is no help at all. problem not listed.

so can someone save the day and my sanity for me ???? :)

should i just give it up ? and return to *gulp* my phone. :frowning2:

special bonus points, trying the charge the player right now. and the glitching causes the player to cut off. before it gets a full charge. arrrgh...
