The 603S is basically a 601 with the amplifier section of the 603 (no USB DAC capability, but enough power to drive full-size cans). It seems that they are offloading their last stocks of TDA1543s. I do feel that it sounds slightly better than the HM-601LE (enjoying mine through Dunu DNKs as I write this). I will miss cheap and easy access to all this Chinese gear when I go back to Europe in a couple of weeks!
Guys there is a minibox amp on promotion for about 116$ its brand new and part of 12.12 promotion so is it good value for me? Because i have already ordered the player with power amp 2. The problem is that i cant wait and listen to power amp 2 first and then decide whether i want to buy this or not as the promotion will run out and it will go back to 250$ mark again
The Minibox is an excellent amp for sensitive cans and IEMs. One of the best, IMO. At that price, go for it!
remember, the minibox is 1-2 steps above the Power II. it would be foolish not to buy at this price. this is part of the hobby, IMO. we buy something to improve our sound system, but when a great opportunity arises to improve sound for an excellent price, we jump at it. you can always sell the power II on the used market. if you buy the Minibox, you won't look back. keep moving forward to sonic bliss!

This happens every so often. I got my Minibox direct from HFM in Kunshan about a year ago for RMB800.
I wish if minibox gold was on sale as well lol that would have been a real treat though..... Maybe next gear
I have jumped from the 650 to the 901 and noticed remarkable increase in SQ, regardless of which amp I used. I don't have the Mini box Gold(yet). But IMO, it would be more worthwhile to jump up to the 901 with a Minibox than to stay with a 650 and get a Minibox Gold. Using a Gold on a 650 is kind of like putting lipstick on a pig.
What does 901 come with by default? And this is the thing i like about hifiman that you can carry forward your upgrades that you accumulate over the period. I was actually eyeing hm 901s instead but its a 1500$ dap i can afford it but i didnt want to go all in especially since its my first dap maybe a year or two down the road i might get 901s and i will be able to tell the difference in SQ and everything else maybe i will appreciate it more Plus i think its for China only they might now ship it to US
