yessir single ended

regarding dekoni elite velour, i had used audeze. not sure if they are thicker with a steeper angle, that could also account for some diff.

but they had a similar effect to my lcdxc2021

Excellent.

Regarding "velour" - I can confirm that the stock HiFiMAN velour pads have nothing in common with the Dekoni pads. Arguably, the HiFiMAN pads, like HD6X0 pads, are proper velour, and the Dekoni pads are a fabric of some sort.

I’m still loving the Audeze protein pads with heat shrink bass ports. No crinkling and better sound everywhere, no downsides at all to my ears. Dekoni fenestrated enroute just for comparison purposes.

Have some LCD4z on the way too so it’s almost time for another bake-off.

I am incredibly absorbed with the sound of HE6SE v2. I find them absolutely perfect, world class but with one con - they need a lot of power and I cann't used them mobile. Anyone can recommend me something similar sounding in IEM class ? Price up to ~ 1000 USD new/used.

I've been perusing forums, looking for an open back compliment to my Verite Closed without breaking the bank and has timbre that would be as pleasing. Anyone consider this HE6SE (assuming with mods) to be a good fit here? Also, I have a Jot2. Would these be good enough to drive the HE6? Thanks!

This is a great set of cans, timbre is very good. No mods needed.

Sound signature on my new pair is forward and bright but not sibilant. Really a fun and engaging headphone without any obvious sonic deficiencies. Cannot speak to your amp, I'm running out of a Master 19 (class A, 9 wpc @ 40 ohms) and loud/comfortable position is 40-50 out of 100. I need mo' powah :)

I am officially putting my foot down on the "the Jot can drive an HE6SE" insanity.

It cannot. Anybody telling you that it can is lying.

The Jot 2 should have a great preamp out that'll allow you to run it into a nice old speaker amp that shouldn't cost much and you'll have a perfect setup. I am currently using the 100W speaker amp I paid $50 for until my Ragnarok comes back from repairs.

I usually run the speaker amp in the 12:00-3:00 range. 100W into 8 ohms.

Hope your hearing is fine.
All things being equal, that's 16WPC into 50 ohms, not that big of a deal...

Maybe I screwed up the calculation, it's past my bedtime :D

Thanks for the straightforward answer regarding the Jot2 here. I will factor in the need for another amp perhaps then... may need to push this out a little or sell my other equipment to make room. sigh..

It really depends on a few things actually - the output of your source, whether balanced or single-ended, and what one considers "loud" or "loud enough". Specs for the Jot 2:

Balanced Headphone Output:
Maximum Power, 32 ohms: 6W RMS per channel
Maximum Power, 50 ohms: 4W RMS per channel

Single-Ended Headphone Output:
Maximum Power, 32 ohms: 2.0W RMS per channel
Maximum Power, 50 ohms: 1.2W RMS per channel

Not sure if that's measured using ~4Vrms for balanced and ~2Vrms for single-ended input from source.

Torq writes about power requirements here and suggests Jot 2 should be able to drive the HE6SE and do a good job at it, but he did not have one on hand to try it with.

Adding to this, Amir's measurements of Jot 2 vs. Singxer SA-1 shows 3.5W for Jot 2 vs. 3.6W SA-1. I have the SA-1 and it drives my HESEv2 to what I consider "loud" with lots of power left (lots on the volume knob).
