Is there a "go to" pad choice for the V2s? Adueze/Dekoni/ZMF ?
75% of this thread is discussing pads. I am currently partial to Ori cowhide

The final HE-6SEv2 mod involves having bellows built into the earcups so you can fix the drivers without even taking the headphones off!
The 1860 bellows mod is so passe... My mod is the valve off an inner tube drilled and hot glued into each earcup along with a dial pressure gauge. When I fill the tires I bring the cans with me and just pump...them up! :D

Pads? Since 2012 The 6 & 500 were listener tested on the 4 letter site. I hold with them - best sounstage, best bass and best FR balance top to bottom. I've tested 13 pads on the 500, 6, 6SE, 5LE, (5SE, 4XX - terrible cans both).

Wow! There is so much tinkering and modding-talk going on here that my poor un-modded He6seV2 gets an inferiority complex whenever I visit... Don't get me wrong, I think these efforts to extract the last x% of performance out of these cans demonstrate a fierce passion for the hobby, and an enduring labor of love that are simply riveting, often heroic, and occasionally breathtaking. Hell someone even mentioned doing a pantyhose mod, a detail which positively gave me goosebumps and sent "butterflies" all over my spine, but I won't comment any further...

I'm just here to pay my respects, and then show myself out quickly to save my poor He6sev2 any further blushes of pain and self-hatred ...:):):)

The most important modification I made to my pair was connecting them to the speaker taps of a vintage classic monster receiver (140WPC), being fed by the Denafrips Ares II R2R DAC through a small Tube Pre-amp. This was a match made in audiophile paradise. In fact, you couldn't find a more perfect match in a room full of smokers. It may not be a $65K Orpheus, but it's something extra special enough to give a common working audiophile on a budget a little taste of something really nice! Please disregard the RME ADI 2 DAC. That's actually connected to something else.

Nice. That thing looks like it will allow you to bridge the space-time continuum and talk to one's younger parent in the past to purchase an OG HE6 and/or Bitcoins.
That's exactly right. I call it my teleportation device. When I'm playing Billie Holiday, I am transported there, or she's transported here, but either way, we are together in a shared experience. Music is life, that's why our hearts have beats. And for me, this is as real as it gets. Everything just sounds right.

Right on!
