= Hifiman HE500 & HE400 Jergpad Mod v2.5 =

With the HE-400? Absolutely not. I can see no advantage of having the vent on the HE-400 unless you want thumping bass (EDM or rap). I do however recommend it on the HE-500.

EDIT: I think I need to further clarify the fact that the vent mod does not have the same effect on the HE-400 and the HE-500.

Oh, I was talking about the HE-500 so I guess it is worth it. Would anyone happen to have a link to a good foam that I could use for the backvent mod as I can't seem to find any.

Try stuffing cotton behind your ears as suggested by doctacosmo, perhaps?

you could always ask modulor where he buys his, or just buy precut ones from him directly

It's honestly cheaper to source it yourself than it would be for me to mail it.  I simply cut the pieces from foam with adhesive back like this you can source from Michaels: http://www.michaels.com/sticky-back-foam-sheets/kd3124,default,pd.html (I see they have koiloco's preferred color options there in front)

You can also use standard thin foam sheets and double sided tape depending on what is available, but any craft store should have something like this, and it should be no more than $2.00 total.

A pair of modulor's 2nd batch of jerg pads reached me after a not uneventful journey.
It was easy to spot a good improvement when comparing them to the pads I had from modulor's 1st batch. It is very satisfying to hear a near natural tone with some solo piano music for the first time with HE500.
A remarkable achievement by jerg and modulor, the benefit is very big to my ears comparing to their cost.
