I've been measuring my 4XX pair, and the left side has drastic sub bass rolloff while the right side is flat down to 10Hz. The left side also has louder mids and taller peaks. Seems like something's not quite right. Does anyone have ideas on what this could be? With how it's mounted into the housing, do you think there's a way the baffle could be leaky?

Seems like your left driver is faulty. Or perhaps driver variations.

Quite a few people I know received faulty units. Different problems. I was taking a gamble too. Thank God mine so far doesnt have problems.

Did you check if you can return the unit with massdrop? Was it like this since the beginning?

I see that Brainwavz are sold on amazon.ca. Can you point me to any that would fit these?

Thanks.

I had regular BW Sheepskin rounds on my 400i. Have to buy the rings from HiFiMan though. I think they are about $10

I just remembered that after scrolling through. It would probably end up at $20.00 to $25.00, landed in Canada.

This morning I turned off DSEE and did a little bit of EQing. Steely Dan sounds awesome as usual!

$276?? That's ridiculous.

This one below is the one. Pse check the ear opening if it fits. It has a round opening instead of ear-shaped one.

https://www.amazon.com/Dekoni-Audio-Memory-Replacement-Beyerdynamic/dp/B019QXEZHK

Otherwise, you can check ZMF Ori pads. It has ear-shaped opening that may fit better. Choose the lambskin version.

No need for fenestrated pads. Normal ones will do.

Yes the prices on the American sites are a LOT different. The Canadian seller is gouging. Those Dekoni would be about $80.00, landed for me.
Any reason you don't recommend the HiFiman pads?

I should mention that the $276.00 price tag was for their Focal pads, although I think the Fenestrated Sheepskin for the DT was $219.00.

The funny thing is that a friend of mine has both Adorama V2 HE-560 & 4XX, he says that the former wins by a mile at everything but sub-bass....all dead-stock eventually.
If what others have said that the HE400i is very similar to the HE4XX then I'd say the HE560 (V1) is very different from the HE4XX and to me it has way more sub-bass which is a little deceiving since the mids of the HE560 are a bit more forward than the HE400i and the HE400i has a bit more mid-bass so with some tracks it would appear to have more bass but on tracks that really do have sub-bass the HE560 is noticeably better IMO.

Not exactly breaking news that the Adorama 560 is a crap shot to many ppl's ears, it's only gone downhill ever since the SMC version FWIR and same goes for 400i.

Do not get normal ZMF Ori pads for this. I love ZMF and their pads but since it's a different ear shape it changes the airflow to the driver and makes the driver "crinkle". Trust me.
