Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone

Has anyone succesfully done Hifiman's upgrade program with their HE1000's? I have an oppurtunity to trade in my HE1000 Stealths for a pair of SE's and $200. The downside is I have to send these to Hifiman in Hong Kong from Australia, thats alot of travel time. I've read some bad stories on reddit of them losing the headphones on arrival aswell, so I'm looking for positive feedback
It sounds a bit risky to me. Can you get it insured and for how much

If you got your stealth's new, why would you change, what is it that you do not like about them.

For $200 extra, it sounds like the SE is a used pair.

If yours are new and you are trading in for a used pair, I would refrain from being tempted to trade.

What's the difference between the two? And are they visually distinguished from each other?
Main difference is the peaky treble of the 2018 version, e.g. Cymbals sounding unnatural bright and sharp.

Visually, they're difficult to distinguish from each other - better look at the serial number of the drivers, which looks like the manufacturing date backwards.

I picked up the power base to use with my Woo Audio Tube Mini, and I cannot get over the synergy with the combo with the H1K Stealth.

It's a new pair confirmed by the Hifiman rep, I did think about insurance but all up postage would be another $150 and then it's not really worth it.

I've realised the Stealth is a mastered "All-Rounder" the SE is more of a specialist and I think I want that as a compliment to other headphones.

I got my HEKSE yesterday, it's the new version with black cables, I was afraid of the worst in the high tones because there are conflicting test reports - but no, it has the Hifiman sound but the treble is not sharp at all, much smoother compared to the Andanda Nano or Edition XS. The stage and imaging are absolutely amazing, much better than the other two. I'm very impressed, very natural, real sound and the HEKSE aren't even burned in yet :)
I Would love to read your written comparison between H1000SE and He1000Stealth. 😀

Anybody owned Arya Organic and HE1000 Stealth at same time? Just wondering how HE1000 Stealth treble compares to Arya Organic, is it less bright, equal or more.

I liked Arya Organic really a lot but treble got to me after a while.

Really? What's the difference between the two? And are they visually distinguished from each other?
That's what has been said by several folks. HFM is well known for silent revs.

I've not heard the SE v2, just the v1 and by memory compared it to the Stealth which I will have in house for about 3 weeks again on kind loan from @Cat Whisperer Bob. Now will have to hear the SE v2. The Stealth has a more pop sound than the SE v1 with its stronger mid bass.

Anyone want to go into deep detail on the SE v1 vs v2?

It sounds like a very good deal, perhaps even surprisingly so.

However, if your Stealth gets lost or stolen, then you would be over 1000 USD out of pocket, which could be quite a a sting to your wallet.

Having to send expensive stuff back to China for warranty, etc. has been a bit of a deal breaker for me.

Also, having gotten bitten by the treble peak on the Arya Stealth that I owned for about a month, has made it a bit risky for me to try any more of their high end stuff.

So there are 5:

SE v1
SE v2
the SE isnt a He1000, it's an HE1000SE.
there are 3 HE1000, v1, v2, and v3. ONLY the newest is still sold new (may find old new stock of course). So, dont confuse yourselves too much.
2 different HPs with various updated versions.

HE1000 isnt harsh like the Arya to my ears.
