Any good and cheap cables for the He1000? I need something with balanced 4.4mm, as this is the common connection my amplifiers have. I glanced at eBay, but have no idea a which ones could be decent?

I’m not sure if looking at the driver from the outside is the right way to make the distinction. Looking from the inside, they do not look like the picture posted here by @winnipegaudioenjoyer of the stealths:
https://www.head-fi.org/threads/hifiman-he1000-planar-dynamic-headphone.748334/post-17727151

The magnets on mine look like they are the same length; perhaps others can chime in on how to distinguish the V2 and Stealth:
Yeah looks like you got the right magnets! Mine you can clearly see the longer magnets from the inside, especially if you take the pads off. There is a green tint to them as well.

I'm still pretty bummed I got the stealths as they are very bright, and I didn't find out the magnet was wrong until after the 30 day window...

I still find the V2 overly bright but from what I’ve read the stealth is brighter. Do you EQ? I started EQing and am getting a really good sound out of them.

Looks like those might be the He1000 v2 stealths. I ordered He1000 v2's non stealth and received ones with stealth magnets as well.

I believe if the magnet is wider in the middle than the top and bottom (like a cross shape) then they are stealths, if they are rectangular than they are the old v2s.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong though!
I just wrote on the prior page, can you please stop confusing folks and stop calling them HE1000 V2 Stealth? It is the HE1000 Stealth.

You're right, but where it gets confusing though is the HE1000 to the HE1000V2 had physical design changes, on top of sound changes. The HE1000 Stealth is the same physical design as the V2, with the addition of stealth magnets. It makes it really confusing for someone who hasn't been following and just started shopping around.

Also, FWIW, HiFiMan seems to be calling the HE1000 Stealth the HE1000V4 internally. When you order them the shipping reference indicates that you purchased the HE1000V4.

It's really a mess overall, especially with the pricing constantly changing and with 2 models being the same price.
No it isn't at all confusing, it gets confusing when you insist on adding a V when it doesn't belong. The HE1000 Stealth is the Stealth, the HE1000 V2 is not stealth

Why do you insist on putting a V on the Stealth?
It is easier for us to name each version/revision of a model by versions, therefore HE1000 Stealt is V4, and Organic is Arya V4

If not, we can go a little crazy with so much confusion between revisions, since imagine if Arya Stealth is V3, what do we call Arya organic V3 Version 2? hehe, better V4 is the fourth version/revision of Arya.

It also states another confusing question for people who don't know the models and are not familiar, which is the newest version or its chronology.

I think hifiman should improve this problem in the future, and be clearer about it with their versions/revisions.

You may be familiar with the models and be clear about which is which, or believe that they are not confusing, but they are for many and if people put a V it is because of said confusion, I even seem to remember that the name HE1000 Stealth was something that hifiman added later because of the confusion with HE1000SE. HIFIMAN must improve this aspect.

Only have to read the last messages to see the confusion that hifiman generates with this, HE1000V2 and HE1000 Stealth have the same box, manuals, serigraphy etc., and the user must be looking at the shape of the driver to know if it is Stealt or V2, yes This doesn't seem confusing to you, I don't know what could be.

HE-1000 Stealth and HE-1000 V2 do not come in the same box -- at least, not by design -- that user who reported that is experiencing something very abnormal, a mistake.

But the newer stealth models with "Stealth" in their name from HiFiMAN officially come in a very similar, plain box with a foam stand that doubles as shipping protection, whereas the older HE-1000 V2 came in a much nicer (faux?) leather box.

Even that user's experience makes it clear that it was a mistake since the SKU he ordered was explicitly HE-1000 V2.

Look at all the unboxings on YouTube of HE-1000 Stealth and you will see that plainer box. Look at all the unboxings on YouTub of the HE-1000 V2 and you will see the much nicer box.

I might be super sensitivity to higher frequencies…
You do mean the HE1000V2, correct? If yes, maybe it's your upstream gear making causing the "brightness"?
I've never experienced any brightness with my HE1000V2.

I do not find the V2 (OG) bright, but it is certainly sibilant in some recordings (both male and female vocal), and those are mostly older (pre 2000) poorly mastered/mixed recordings.
There's only one HE1000V2, so no need for the "OG".
If the recordings are poorly mastered/mixed then the fault is not the HE1000V2.
