The names are a mess. I accidentally bought my HEKv3 mistaking it for the HEKse (since I assumed se stood for Stealth Edition) instead of special edition.

Funny enough another member tried to make it seem as if I’m the one making it confusing. They never replied after I showed them the picture of my box that says HE1000 Stealth Edition which I would think abbreviates to HEKSE ( not to be confused as the HEKse).

So HEKv3 it is.

Doesn't help how the HEKV2 Stealth was released "Stealth"-ily haha. No mentioned on it whatsoever, the first information I could find for it was a a few people ordering the V2 from Amazon, but getting the V2 Stealth Instead.

Yeah, at some point I was pretty confused and mistaken the HEK Stealth for the HEKse, then thought it was an HEK v1 Stealth (since there was a V2 listed), then researched a bit online and found out it's a V2 with stealth magnet...

I think the Ananda situation is even worse.

It's V3 now?
Lol. It's just a description, the name is still just the HE1000 (just with an extra description that its got stealth magnets). The HE1000 second version was also just the HE1000 yes HIFIMAN did have it on the site as V2 to help differentiate that it's been updated. Only the HE1000SE I think has a completely different name.

Wondering what source chain you used in your comparison between the headphones.
I used a full range really.

One set up is the Soekris dac1541 directly from the headphone out balanced.

One set up is the dac1541 fed to the Eddie Current Studio B

Portable on the move. Centrance HiFi M8

Another is the Sonic Frontier Processor 3 DAC to the First Watt F7 with a autoformer volume control. (A very nice setup for the HE6 / Susvara - the HE1000 V2 also shines with the extra power)

Yeah it's weird naming between region really. I think some retailers in the UK called it HE1000V3. Some in the US call it He1000Stealth which is the official name of it, and I think headphones.com calls them He1000V2 Stealth magnet Version. Shops in China calls it HE1000V2 New Upgraded Version. definitely confusing for first time buyer.

I've been fortunate to listen to some of the custom amps dill3000's been building and they are absolutely amazing for all these Hifiman, be it HekV1, v2, HE4 to 6 and of course the Susvara.

Also Nelson Pass designs with some extra flavour make these endless power debates quite meaningless.

HE1000, here everything started in 2015
HE1000v2, successor, released 2016
HE1000 Stealth aka HE1000v2 Stealth, released end of 2022. This version got the v3 moniker in head-fi's head-gear item section, thus the confusion.

We could argue that the v3 moniker kinda applies as the following headphone is still in its own class anyway:

HE1000SE aka Special Edition (released in 2018, first time stealth magnets were introduced to the HEK family, still got the best magnets in terms of inherent properties, strength etc, thus still best technicalities, resolve out of all HEKs)

We will be back at this discussion once the HEK Organic is released. Going from the Arya I hope it does.
