No, they're explicitly mentioning a flagship planar and the Shangri-La. That could be the HE1000 V2, now officially presented, or a higher model.

Headphones are going the way the rest of High End Audio went...when I started out, it was possible to be a regular Joe, and get a TOTL home stereo without taking out a second mortgage, then little by little prices went sky high, with the best gear costing $40,000-$100,000 PER COMPONENT! Of course, you can put together a great sounding system for much less, but, still...

You're correct that they said "and the Shangri-la. As far as the v2 goes it says they're releasing a new one they can't tell you about or it wouldn't be new at CES. Could be wrongness but that'd be a pretty crap email to send people

What is the physical difference between the HEK and the HEX?
I own the HEK and got to briefly compare it to the HEX and they certainly sound difference. Looking at pictures they look "mechanically" identical as far as I can see? Different "membrane" material/width?

Sky high prices have been around for decades. If you actually adjust for inflation (which alot of people forget to do) the prices today aren't really that ridiculous for what you get.
