I've gotten a box every time I've sent mine back to HiFi-Man. I've been binning them, lol.

Same here I did the upgrade and now I have an empty box sitting around. Do you feel the upgrade was worth it?

Ive only had them for a day, they seem about the same.
they need time to break in....

I'm happy I love them

it may be my ears but they seem like they may have gotten easier to drive ....maybe not

Just upgraded the pads from v1 to v2.

Bass got tighter, and thumps better.
Mid bass got louder.
A bit more lively.
Less strident highs.
At the same time they got a bit more highs.

The difference is certainly more than I expected.

Anyone tried the foam between pads and drivers yet? (Using Brainwavz pads foam insides) with the v2 pads on the hek v1?

I don't know if we can replace the headband of v1 with v2

No this is not possible the ends of the V2 are narrower and do not line up with the mounting holes on the V1

My Trilogy 931 has gobs of power, it's a really good pairing for the HE-1000.

the clamps of a good integrated amplifier.rega, naim, Sugden. Attach your he1000 to the terminals and finally you will be able to hear it as with any other headphone amplifier.my he1000 is attached to Sugden a21se. I also own the Apex Pinnacle and Headsamp Gsx mk2. you can watch my profile picture. but nothing better than Sugden.

I recently got a Burson CV2+ and I like it quite well with my V1. Another recent acquisition was a iDSD Black Label. I am actually quite happy with what that small device does with the HE1K.
The Burson fits into your under $1500 (something some may have missed). If you write to them, you may even be able to negotiate a nice discount. The black Label, I just picked one up new for $370. A no brainer there for what it does (even at full list).
