thanks  a lot for those impressions;  VERY ENCOURAGING !

Can you recall what DAC was used to feed the AMP ?

I was listening out of a computer.
I'm pretty sure that I heard mention that the HUGO was on hand.
But I didn't take note of the DAC which may or may not have been connected to the computer.
Sorry.

Thanks Icebear. I have a question that I'll probable get laughed at. Does anyone knows if the HE1000 can be driven by any portable amps? I know it is not as good, I just want to know how sensitive/efficient this phone is? I am thinking building a balance cable for a balance RSA portable amp or use it with the Hugo.

Yes, it can be directly driven by the Hifi Man player that was shown in my picture.
Dr. Fang unplugged it from the amp, changed a cable and then I did listen to the HE-1000 directly from this player.
For the particular area in sound that I was focusing on, it did not make any significant improvement.

I will post detailed impressions later.

We just need to let Fang know that we appreciate him for coming up with such a great product. If he can find a way to price it to within reach of more headfiers, he'll be admired. 2 liter coke-$1.99, a gallon of milk-$4.00, admiration/adoration-priceless:xf_eek:

:D

Thank you again, but forget about the significant improvement, if I could only get 80 to 90 percent of the sq from my portable system I'll be in heaven.

I visited Fang in his hotel room in NYC this afternoon and got the chance to see and listen to
the HE-1000.
Through his newly developed EF-1000 amp.
Somehow... for most of the time of my visit, I was the only visitor and was able to listen without
interruption to an Elgar Cello Concerto.  I think it was the one in E minor.
For what seemed like the better part of an hour.

If I had known that I would have flown out. . . :^)

These people are on the line. :p

They lined up when news got out that its gonna be 3k+...last opportunity to hear it, I guess...

I wonder if there's any plans to release something in between the HE560 and HE1000. With the HE-6 discontinued there's a huge price range that Hifiman is missing out on. There has to be something if the HE1000 is going to be at the 3-5k range.

I hope they wouldn't once the HE-1000 comes out (that's the rumor). I don't think it sits well with most head-fiers...the design, I mean:

According to @Revogamer they are mono minijacks, but he was not sure about the size.

They seemed more 2.5mm to me rather than 3.5mm but would like to wait on confirmation for that.

You've actually worn and heard it? How do you find the design?

Yup indeed i have at CES - was a very nice design to me to be honest, very comfortable too - the sound was still the best part however :)

Yeah. The design actually looks horrible to me. You guys are very generous on critiquing the design. My first reaction was...pinkish hue and you'd look like this:

Well then your Audeze LCD-2 is ugly, the wood part is way too bright and without texture.

Mmmm...no, they're not. My LCD-2 is really nicely designed (and original, btw), and the wood part is full of body and you would really feel the grain... Wondering about your preoccupation with the wood though...
