I am planning on getting an HE1K as soon as it is released. Are many of you that are planning to buy, but concerned enough about build quality issues that you will delay your purchase?
I'm planning on getting it as soon as it is released as well. I hope that those quality issues will delay the come out of the HP, but after that... perfection.

Yes, I am concerned, particularly since I've had quality control issues with Hifiman in the past and their replacement/repair operation hasn't been the best for me in the past (e.g., in the past they've had this Chinese lady that I find very hard to understand...it's been a pain in the neck, really). So, let the other pay the price for bragging rights...I'm staying in the wings until all the dust has settled.
I am very happy with what the HD-800 gives me now and I haven't even given it the right rig yet. So I can afford to wait until local shops have the HE1000 for long listening demo. For this kind of money, it's not very rational to buy without long listening testing. Who would buy from you for close to full cost when they can just buy new instead? Just my opinion though so I may be wrong...
I am Axpona and talked to HiFiMAN people there regarding the "evaluation" units. They said the factory are getting them ready to ship them to the group but they did not know the exact time.
I also took the opportunity to listen to the HE1000 with a different amplifier than the new big HiFiMAM. They have a pair connected to a Geek Pulse with one of their DAP and docking station as the source. They also sounded excellent out of the Geek so any decent amplifier will do well for them.

I also listened yesterday using the LHLabs Pulse Infinity. They did sound very good using the Infinity. You won't need the $10,000 HiFiMAN amp to really enjoy them.
If anyone has the chance, please ask about the cables that will be included. Will you get SE and balanced? Will we have to choose one or the other? If so, will the balanced version cost more?

I just asked about the cable. It is made by HiFiMAN out of single crystal cooper and just single ended.
They said they did a lot of research on it and believe a customer will need to spend a lot of money to get something better. It is cloth covered kind of the old Denon and the connectors look a lot like the Oppo connectors.
