Either headphone has dropped yet.  However, it's already seeming like more people are willing to pay the $1.5k of the Ether compared to the $3K of the HE1000.  Did Dan purposely wait until the Hifiman price was known publicly and the come under that price to get more sales?  I just hope it's not useing that same old Fostex T50RP driver - in any way shape or form.

Deluxe Ultra Magical Binaural cable sounds more appropiate.

But the HPs look good and are still somewhat reasonably priced.

I thought the pic he has up was the pic for this new cable but then I realized he has the same pic up for all the cables. his stock cables that come with the AD/AP aren't that great.

It's is a brand new driver Dan created.

but that doesn't mean it is not using components from the T50RP or based/modeled after the T50RP.
 
I actually think it more makes sense if Dan's new driver had some stuff or inspiration from the T50RP. After all, that is the driver he has been working on for the past decade plus.

My son has a friend that plays in the Nhl. This kid makes average 3 million over 5 years. He was at my house last summer and was listening to the Lyr, Bifrost, and Lcd2.2s.
He was told that it's about 1500 dollar system. He almost crapped his pants . Couldn't believe anybody would pay that kind of money?
