Cool, may look at this to go with a high end tube amp like the Studio Six. May want to try their amp, but it's just so ugly looking, hopefully they improve the way it looks before they release it

Imagine a world where flagship headphone prices were in the normal consumer range

IMO and based on listening to the Abyss in a meet environment they are more open and dynamic with better speed and punch.

Sorry I didn’t get which one you mean. Is it the Abyss or the HE1000 that has better speed and punch?

The hi-fi industry will eventually kill itself the direction it's headed, or been heading for a long time. From the sublime to the ridiculous++

Is that a guess or has another headphone been announced.

I'm terrible at sarcasm. the whole point of my response was that the he1000 will cost the equivalent of three current flagship headphones, each of which is terrific in its own right. I certainly want to listen to the he1000 but it would have to be spectacular x100 to replace all of those headphones.

ya it's quite pricey, but a lot of really serious people here have both the hd800 + lcd3 which ends up being much expensive than he1000. really only can get x2 flagships as most flagships average $1.5k. considering you only have one head, i think a single superior product is always a better investment. of course, superior is a subjective term, so shld try it out prior to investing that kinda dough, but they are quite impressive.

of course in the hobby, diminishing returns are ridiculous, but hey for the pursuit of the best sound possible right? honestly going over $200 you already hit crazy diminishing returns & you have to be an enthusiast

not officially announced, but definitely in development. release date currently unknown, but for people getting itchy with this price tag, don't worry, there will be something else out there for you eventually.

remember this is supposed to be a statement product competing with the Stax 009... not even directly fighting against the normal sub-$2k flagships. hence the pricing.
