HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

Thanks for the offer of the yokes @Nimzerz - right now I'm in two minds whether to repair it or not. With one cup the screws came out cleanly - with the other cup they're hopelessly stripped:

I've contacted Hifiman to see if I can get some replacement cups but they've been busy trying to upsell me some of their other headphones instead.

Anyone know if replacement cups are still available to buy with this range of headphones?

Otherwise I might be able to hammer out the brass inserts according to this headband upgrade guide:
https://www.head-fi.org/threads/the...400-500-into-the-newstock-he-400i-560.790902/

And replace the band with:

Is this band just sitting in a filed hole a long term solution for these phones or would I be better buying something new like the HD800S and putting the HE6 parts for sale on the forums?
Did you end up selling these? @dogbait

Good People.
Anyone plans to let go HE6 for “not-so-high” price? Like 1000 USD?
I know most HE6 are going for 1500 and above, but given the age of these I would not like to pay more than 1000, and hence checking here. 😊
Thanks.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find one under the going prices today. Also, given the age, they are more of a rarity now given that many people have broken their units.

Yep - it sold within minutes - I loved these headphones but still can't believe how much appreciation there is for them after all this time: https://www.head-fi.org/classifieds/hifiman-he6-headphone-parts-only.56014/

It's pretty heartening to see 🥰

What do ex-HE6 owners recommend buying instead if they want a similar experience?

Would the HD800S with EQ work? (it's so readily available in the UK) or would i need a Hifiman headphone? (just wary of the quality control issues I've read about online with their newer stuff).

I have a question on similar lines.
Is there an alternative HP similar to HE6 OG (4 / 6 screw) that people can consider who may not have owned HE6 (/ can not own) due to it being a rarity now?
From the HP, I have tired meze empyrean and abyss tc come close (never heard LCD-4), but even these do not match HE-6 on bass slam and decay.

Overall I did enjoy bass on both of these HP's, but HE-6 is unique SQ with added body and weight to low range that no other HP match.

There’s something about the he6 that looks so dang good. Always loved the look of them.

Took my original HE6 (which I still love) off the stand and the "Hanger" (is that the correct term ?) snapped

Any sources for these (apart from Hifiman) ?

Can find some replacements on AliExpress, but I found most of them to be of poor quality.

Hifiman sells comfort headband, found this in UK, https://www.analogueseduction.net/h...iman-enhanced-comfort-headphone-headband.html
Quite expensive for what it is, but better qulity-feeling than the AliExpress options IMO.

If you want the best, contact your local audeze dealer, and ask if they can supply yoke and headband replacement.

or ask the maker of NAN-6 / NAN-7 to sell you his headband package, (cant find the link on his taobao shop anymore. Anyone got a link to his headband?)

Why not the HE6SE V2?

Why not the HE6SE V2?

My hearing music suck compared to other folks, but I can't hear much of a difference between my 4 screw LP HE6 and my HE6 V2, so I'm 100% on board with the V2. I wish I had a magic HE6 that had bass slam that blows your hair back and clears your sinuses... but alas my LP 4 screw just sounds fantastic, not body altering.

I didn't hear the other ones so I don't know, but I can't believe some other headphone still in production is closer to the HE 6 original than the HE6SE V2.

I think it's a great set of headphones but people who want to save money especially in countries where not much is available and everything costs much more than in America, could look at the HE400i 2020. It's quite good and very cheap.
