HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

Yeah I have heard silver in certain settings sound great, Just not with the HE-6 which I find a little sharp along with all the good things.

As always listen for yourself.
I have the 4 screw and with them, the Whiplash cable works great. Sadly, they haven't been made for quite some time now (either the phones or the cable).

Anyone have a pair of early 4-screw HE-6s properly amped and tried the Susvaras through the same setup? I am not that interested in upgrading but curious hearing from anyone who has experience with both. To this day, the HE-6s, paired with the discontinued Liquid Gold, remain my favorite all-around headphones.

I will counter you and ask how your LCD-3s sound off the LAu? Are yours the non-fazor/Classic version? I've been wanting a pair of those for years, and you've even for the same amp as me and a pair of 4-screw HE-6s~

As for your question, I haven't found anything better yet, but the ones I've got my eye on are the Abyss TCs and I hope to land a pair in the next few months.
They are the non-fazor version. The amp works well with them, but the LAu was designed for the HE-6. It's not even clear whether to use the LCD-3s in low or high gain. It seems to depend somewhat. Probably low gain for most music.

I’ve heard them both on Ragnarok 2 and McIntosh MHA 150 (speaker taps)

They sound really similar, the Susvara sound a hint more organic/natural with bigger stage. Bass is better on the HE6 in every way.

I have this setup. It's very nice. :)

Anyone tried to do stealth magnet mod on the HE6 yet?

Yeah, some call it the Susvara. 😉

More seriously, be my guest and try to dismantle the HE-6 diaphragm from its magnet array and attempt to place it in the Sus magnet array. I doubt that the HE400se uses the same magnets in its array as the Sus.

If I can do that, I can as well start my own audio hp company.

Thanks. I really appreciate that it does have good bass, but it doesn't sound muffled. It's perfectly controlled/tight to my ears. When I want real beefiness, I switch to the LCD-3s.

Could probably re-sell it for profit even, would have bought it, but my wallet is scraped
Except for that being against the rules here
