That is the ear cup, not the driver. Four screw are hard to find. I wouldn't worry about it if they work correctly as a ding on the ear cup doesn't mean much. I have a 4 screw and they are very good.
Thanks for the response.

Is there any chance of a repair for a chip like that in the future? Even so, I am not even sure where to find someone who would even entertain the idea.

do you have other images? How do you know it's a pre-production he6, or do you mean it's an early production model? I've been looking for a pre-prod or prototype for a long long time. Even posting weekly hundreds of times on the classifieds and even on the regular forum before classifieds. The best I've gotten on the proto is a dude trolling me telling me he has one, and he is going to throw it out because it's out of warranty lol.
Yeah, its likely an early production 4-screw. I just went by the description provided when seller reached out. I’ve seen your WTB post about the prototype model and from the other pics, it certainly doesn’t look like the one you’re looking for.

Ill need to do some more verification before closing the deal. Just pains me that the gash is so prominent on the top of the ear cup.

Yea I mean short of finding a new cup, I imagine it will be pretty difficult to find someone to fix that. I'm also not sure it's worth the cost. If the rest of the 4-screw is in good condition and the price is right I'd go for it. Just my 2 cents.

If you don’t mind, would I be able to send you a DM with more questions? It seems like you know quite a lot about the HE-6 and would appreciate some additional insight.

Cups, headband etc can be exchanged. The driver is most important and the ring to screw it in.

I have HE-6 4 screw without mods. Bought used in 2011 and used for a week. Which version is it?

Early I think, see the colour of the inside baffle (same as earcups) and the screws that hold the cups attached to the yoke (smaller than the late revision)

Cable is aftermarket I think?

EDIT: the pads looks like late revision, the early had clear plastic pad mount attached to the pads.

I have the very 1st of the 4 screw. Great sounding and work well off of the MZ3.

Thank you but can't. One, they are rare, as these are the 1st of the 1st and they were a review sample and I never give away or sell something like that as to me, it is not honest to the company that sent them to me.
