What would you think a nicely used, unmodded HE-6 would be worth?

The earpads on my HE-400i have dissolved(glue that holds the leather to the earpad mount has loosened).
I'm thinking this is the perfect chance to buy new earpads, sell the HE-400i with a "new unused earpads" and getting something better.
If I can get a pair of HE-6's in the 900 buck range, would that be a good buy or would something like Focal Elear be better? at what price does the HE-6 become "obsolete"?

Only other headphone i have audition is the HD700, liked the treble detail better on the HD700 than the HE-400I, liked the Bass on the HE-400I better than the HD700. If i can get something that is a combo of those or better I would be happy.

i think the bigger issue is actually finding a stock HE-6....most have been modded,and less and less are coming up for sale,regardless of the price.

You might check out the HE-560 or HE-500...or have some patience.

Not heard the HE-6 thru the Schiit amps,so no advice on its ability to do the HE-6 justice or not.

I'm convinced! I sent an email saying I would like to buy it. hahaha xD
Figured I can easily resell it for the same price if I dont like it .But as long as I it sounds better to my ear than a HE-400i im keeping it

Now I just need a balanced cable for it.
Problem with this is that now I cant wait for vacation to end so I can listen to it..

edit: any hints for some cheapo balanced cables(as long as they are on par or better than Hifiman stock balanced cables I'm happy)

There's actually nothing wrong with the stock XLR cable Hifiman provides. The only issue is if it's not the sheathed cable it might turn slightly green in some places after a while.

I'm perfectly happy with the hifiman balanced cable i bought for my He-400i. Is a balanced cable included with the He-6 normally?

Yes, there is a 4 pin xlr cable with trs adapter cable.

Yes, new He-6 comes with a balanced cable.

I will echo cskippy the stock Hifiman XLR cable is fine. You can get a “better” cable later, after you got the other things sorted out and you know if you going to keep it. I don’t have any first hands experience on that combo, but from reading this tread HE-6 and Ragnarok may not be the best tonal synergy....

I'd be interested to know how the HE-6 sound with the Schiit combination. I've a Ragnarok incoming to pair with my Yggdrasil.

I want to know if the Ragnarok is able to power the HE-6 well..... not just power it but power it well.

Two threads to check that Rag/HE6 combo is here and amps that can drive the HE-6. From what I've read, it wasn't as good as a reasonably priced speaker amp.
