So I've had my pair of HE-6 for a couple weeks now. What are the popular mods recommended for them?

A twenty year old amp may use discrete caps but if there are any oil caps in it, they could probably be freshened up.

fuzzor, grill and pad mods. Further would be hardwiring the cable and removing the connectors and maybe a headband cushion.

Putting boutique oil caps like V-caps, Mundorf, etc... in a 20 year old RECEIVER is a waste. But if you have a 20 year old Jadis amp and the like it may be worth it.
Putting in performance iron is another investment that would not benefit IMO.

I have Modular Jergpads from my HE-500. I don't remember reading about them being used on the HE-6. Do owners use them or are you talking about other pads?

Remove stock grill, replacing it with a more open version. Better pads like the Denon's, Audeze Vegans or Alpha's. Then the Fuzzor mod...........all three together make it amazing.

Just had a quick & breezy session @ 90min. 'Baby sinister' (Sansui G-22000):

She's still trying to smack the HE-6 around like a Dominatrix!

Since the question of recommended HE-6 mods seems to pop up quite frequently on this thread, I thought it might be helpful to others if a summary entry, briefly describing the recommended mods, was added to the Guide section of the HE-6 product page.  For me, having this useful information all in one place is more convenient than having to use the search function to search through pages of posts, so I've updated the HE-6 product page with the following entry.  Of course, all are welcomed to contribute to the Product wiki.  If I've misstated any information, please feel free to make additions or corrections as needed.

Cheers

Recommended HE-6 Mod Trifecta:

The combination of these three mods are recommended by many on the popular HE-6 thread - http://www.head-fi.org/t/493214/hifiman-he-6-planar-magnetic-headphone

Anyone willing to sell your mint condition modded HE6 can PM me. I am looking for one especially with aftermarket cable together.
