Here's a bunch of random stuff. Hifiman Customer Service sent me a sundara headband recently. Installed it... this is what it looks like on the 2.5mm HE560. I definitely prefer the older headband to this one.

And for any weird speculation there may be... this is what I measured FR Raw curves to be with both bands using MiniDSP EARS

Pretty much the same. :)

Would be interesting to see what the v2 FR curve looks like.

Interesting. So the speculation that the band is causing the sound difference seems unlikely. Thanks for sharing.

The Sundara clamping force is crazy, and the lack of articulation is a bit painful compared to the original headband. May put the old one back with the 3D printed yokes.

What is the strap like when they are on your head? Is there a ton of distance left from strap to headband? Is it pulled tight?

On the standard headband, I am 1 or 2 clicks in. The Sundara I can wear it at 2 clicks but it's more comfortable at 3 or 4 clicks. There's just as much flex and cup spacing as the original in my opinion.

The original band is much more comfortable because the yokes can move while the Sundara is fixed. This creates a much tighter clamping force on my head which I am getting used to.

be aware buying them right now. according to "dexie" the rep i am responding to @ adorama they still are awaiting the new headbands??? first they said it was shipping out then they said when they receive them it would be shipped. so who really knows at this point. kind of left a bad taste for me in dealing with them in the future imo. if people are able to buy the set WITH the new band then there is no reason why they cant ship one after telling people they would send them out. just be cautious if you want the newer band style.
