Probably very near the size of 600/650. I never really compared the two side-by-side though.   I'm not really too big on the depth of a soundstage, all I care about is if a headphone sounds open or not.

It and the Uberfrost sound marginally better than my iMac's headphone out, which also sounds terrific.  I don't know how much other upstream components sound with the 560.  I won't be changing my upstream gear anytime soon, even if I do go crazy and end up getting an HE-1000.

Hell, I don't even know if Ill get my 560 back or not because right now UPS seems to have lost it when I was sending it to a buddy in Houston to try out for a couple weeks.  EQ'd AD700 in the mean-time does more than what I want it to do.

The HE-560 soundstage is definitely bigger (airier, more open sounding, etc) than the HD650.  I have them both right now.

The HE-1000 is an amazing headphone (I heard it at CES), but considering the rumored cost is in the $2-4k price range, I think the HE-560 would be the better "bang for the buck".  As I said before, one of the best compliments I can give the HE-560 is that it still sounded pretty decent right after hearing the HE-1000.

Oy vey.  Why is reading comprehension such a problem these days.  Sorry for your troubles, Frank.  I enjoy your reviews and posts.

I hope we can clean up this thread a little.  All this talk of prostitution is bound to lead to deletions.  Bang For The Buck, indeed

Thanks Thurston here is the Prime reivewhttp://www.head-fi.org/products/mrspeakers-alpha-prime/reviews/12631

Kinda confused here, reading this thread I didn't see Modmax refer to you when he talk about this reviewer he read. In fact I don't think modmax mentioned who the reviewer was at all.

In any case, I definitely think both the primes and the 560 are great headphones. For a close to reference totl sound I find the 560 to be quite high value for something under 1k. Like stillhart, I was still quite happy with the 560's sound even after demoing the stax sr 009.

Yes, I was quite happy to hear the performance of the 560 and read impressions from others who had the more expensive models in addition to the 560 who either really liked the 560, and in some cases preferred it. I really have a hard time justifying spending over say $1200 for headphones so for the level of performance the 560 delivers under a grand, I'm pretty darn happy as I really didn't want to go that deep into the bank roll. Thanks Fang and company! I still hope the HE 1000 yields trickle down advances for the HE-6 successor that should be around the $1200-1400 mark.

FWIW, when I spoke to some of the HFM employees at CES (I missed Dr. Fang), they seemed to think that trickle down from the HE-1000 to more "affordable" models was quite likely.  I'm not holding my breath as the HE-1000 isn't out yet, but maybe this time next year we'll see a nice upgrade to the HE-560 that doesn't cost a kidney.  :-D

My as well, me as well. As much as I love the 560, I would be lying if I said I wouldn't want to hear what else can realized by the talent pool at HFM. Time will tell.

I even know the model name of the new headphone from Hifiman utilizing tech from the HE-1000. It's called

HE-666

Tagline: You will have a Devil of a time putting these headphones down!

Should go well with my new cable!
