Looks like the baffle tsunami has passed, and the earpad-opening hurricane just arrived.

Yes, funny as it is.

Looks like you'll have your work cut out for you, jerg.

Hey I'm hands off on this one, sure the new earpads are partly based on the findings of my earpad mods, but the actual specifications (opening size, thickness etc) have nothing to do with me.

If anything you guys should thank me that these pads have velour top-covers now, from a comfort standpoint.

Putting on the old velour pads is like going back to bronze tools when you've already got super steel alloys (alloys...velour+pleather...get it? ha...ok).

Edit: ok bronze is an alloy too, I'm stupid, AFK.

I'd be perfectly fine with going back to the old ones if it meant my ears could breathe.  I haven't got the 560 yet but it doesn't look like the new hifiman zorg pads are anything ridiculous like the audeze leathers or anything, so going from the zorgs to the older velours shouldn't be too much of a downgrade.

Yes, those were fine by me, but I also remember all the negative comments made on the cheap Grado packaging (haven't followed any Grado threads for a good while). For every person that doesn't want to pay for fancy packaging there will be another complaining about how a high end product should have a matching packaging.

Well, if you make it optional...then everyone would be pleased

Personally, I am fine if they come in a brown paper bag as long as it is boxed in a plain brown cardboard box with tons of peanuts

There are some photos (including dissected cable) and review in Chinese:

Is there 6.5->3.5 mm adapter included (or is that 6.5 ending detachable)?

It does look like one solid termination.  Also, to people who already have the 560, are the logo and branding of the 560 on the sides of the heaband the same silkscreen-esque print like the previous models?

Looks like they used some type of SPC (silver plated copper) for the cable!   Hmmm...would be interesting to hear a OCC Copper cable on them, others as well!
