Well, I am very close to selling my 560... I am not putting a clasified up yet, but most likely soon.
Shoot me a PM if interested with some info (country, etc.) and if we agree you'll get preference :) A reservation of sorts...
The headphone is in great condition w/ Focus pads and comes with everything, incl. proof of purchase from Stereodesk.
Balanced XLR cable and more open grilles available.
I have a price in mind but it will differ slightly from xountry to country due to shipping fees :)
Cheers

I don't get it. Those two red vertical cards are op amps? Changing those are like rolling tubes, they mod the sound?

http://www.ssaudio.com.au/technology/

Those are the ones by Supreme Sound Audio but you don't have to use their.  Most any 8 pin amp IC would work.  There are 3 chip sockets.  The two outer ones shown with the SSA discrete op-amps is for 2x installation for a Single Op-amp with the one in the middle used for Dual Op-amps.

And no you can't use both at the same time or stack duals in the single.  I already asked :)

The SS Opamp is directly replaceable with the following opamps

Dual Op-amps:
AD823, AD823AN, AD8066, AD8620, AD712, AD827, C4570, JRC4580, JRC5532, JRC5532D, JRC5534, LF353, LM4562, LME49860, LM833N, MUSES8920, NE5532, NEC4520, NEC4570, NJM2068D, NJM2114, NJM2214D, NJM4558, NJM4558D, NJM4560, NJM5532, NJM4558P, OP275, OPA1612, OPA2277PA, OPA2132, OPA2134, OPA2604, JRC4558, RC4558D, RC4558P, TL052, TL072
Single Op-amps:
NE5534, LT1122, OPA134, OPA627, AD811, AD844, OPA604, AD8610, AD797, LME49990, LME49710

Looks really complicated.

It comes assembled with whichever chipset you order.  To change out a non SSA opamp you use a chip puller which is easy.  To insert there is a chip inserter as well.  Just need to be sure do not bend the legs on the chips or worse break one off.

The dual socket in the center requires only one chip so it is 1/2 the effort.

I have 10 thumbs when it comes to DIY and I think I can manage it.

I have had a little  practice as the original designed RSA amps used ICs with the 8 pin socket but later ones were soldered on the board.

I bought a pair of these a month or so ago and am enjoying them immensely, however the adjustable headband seems a bit loose, especially on the right side. In the video reviews I've seen you hear a clear, postive click when adjusting up and down a notch, but on mine its barely audible. They do stay in place, sort of, but don't feel so secure. Is this normal?

Same with mine. Clicked fir a while but after a few weeks of regular use, the clicks faded when adjusting the headband. I handle them gently, just to be safe.

Probably just the nature of wear and tear? Like it's metal sure, but metal on metal will wear. Mine is still very audible, but I pretty much haven't changed it after settling on a size a few months ago. I can see it not being quite as secure if you use it often enough.

Thanks for your replies. I guess there's no need to worry about them being faulty, though I've only had them a couple of months.

I have seen three HE-560 from friends and my own. The head band is of different firmness initially but eventually is always a bit loose. It seems normal.

Cheers,
K

You can always try reaching out to HiFi. I had a headband replacement sent for free for my HE-6s a while back.

I wouldn't say that. They are good but not as good as the 560. I do like the tonality of both. I've owned the 560 for some time though, so am looking for a different flavor

The 400S will suffice temporarily, but I am looking to acquire a different headphone soon.

Essentially what I experienced. I owned the 560s for a year I think and I simply wanted to try another sound signature. I should have kept the 560 instead of selling and had two nice headphones, but hindsight is 20/20 they say. I had a Sony Z7 that while it didn't do anything better than the 560 in my mind, it was good enough that I could part with the 560 until my TH 900 arrived. I wouldn't be surprised if I purchased another 560 within a year, or maybe it will be the HE 6 successor I buy? I was going to get an Ether, but frankly it really does not seem like the significant extra cash outlay as compared with a 560 makes it worth it.

I am going to CanJam next week where I am hoping to try the Ether, Dharma and HEK. HEK being out of my reach though so a HE6 successor down the line is much more likely :p
I really did like the 560 A LOT but the 400S for third a price is very good too... So even if the candidates disappoint, I'll hsve the 400S till Hifiman cooks up the HE6 successor or the electrostatic Jade :)
