So far my July bought 560's have been fine, but should the yokes ever break (or the headband fall apart) I'll definitely look into 3d printing suitable replacements.

Same with me. Hopefully they wont break. So far my July bought 560's have been fine, but should the yokes ever break (or the headband fall apart) I'll definitely look into 3d printing suitable replacements.
If they do i will try and get a replacement from Hifiman, or just use the headband from the HE350 which i dont use anyway
Mine are still ok (not really confident though) serial no. 0257. I have He-350 & He-400i which do not hold a candle to He-560 so one of those will have to give up their headband when the day comes.
Good to know the 400i are not as good as i was looking into it as an alternative. I prefer the sound of the 560 over fostex thx00, akg q701 and audeze sine.
Agreed, the HE560's are better sounding than those you just mentioned to me as well. They are really good sounding headphones!Good to know the 400i are not as good as i was looking into it as an alternative. I prefer the sound of the 560 over fostex thx00, akg q701 and audeze sine.

Wait, if the headband is the same as the others, can we request 400 headband instead? Or has hifiman been doing that?
So I ate my words and bought a Hifiman Sundara since it has a metal yolk and I liked the sound of the HE-560 so much. I think the Sundara sounds amazing - to my ears, it's a warmer HE-560 which I prefer - and my HE-560 is heading back to Adorama.
350, 400i, 400S and 560 use the same headbandWait, if the headband is the same as the others, can we request 400 headband instead? Or has hifiman been doing that?
HE400, HE500, HE6 and a few other older model use the older style
If you read back a few pages I think someone got a un-labeled headband so it looks like Hifiman is just trying to use what they have available to replace broken ones

Right, so if I ask for/purchase a he560 replacement band, my chances of getting another bad band is high, but if I request a 400i/s band, will they give me one from a better old batch, or will it be the same ?
I'm not sure since my HE560 is fine and has been for the last 4 years. About 2 years ago Hifiman stopped selling just the headband since many were using it to retrofit the older headbands since the new one is a bit more comfortable so I was considering getting a HE350 just for the headband and maybe even use the cups to mount some Ypsilon R1 drivers in them so that I could use a larger ear pad versus the G or L pads (Grado) that I currently use for my Ypsilon R1.Right, so if I ask for/purchase a he560 replacement band, my chances of getting another bad band is high, but if I request a 400i/s band, will they give me one from a better old batch, or will it be the same ?
But I wouldn't request a HE400i headband since there have been some on the HE400i thread that say they are also having some cracking problems.

People say Sundara sounds more like the HE-560 than the HE400i thats supposed to be replacing, but I am concerned that some say it has less bass than the HE-560. I might go that route since Sundara is much easier to drive. So I ate my words and bought a Hifiman Sundara since it has a metal yolk and I liked the sound of the HE-560 so much. My first impression is that the Sundara is as capable as the HE-560 (if not more so). The bass extension is the same, but I felt the volume of bass was slightly less - I had to listen carefully to discern this and it could be because the Sundara had been out of the box for only a few minutes and had no prior usage or burn in. I wouldn’t worry about bass though because I never felt that the Sundara lacked bass - the Sundara’s upper bass (and lower mid range) loudness was less than a Meze 99 Neo I was comparing it to, but the Sundara had much better bass extension, resolution, and punch ... and I felt the Sundara had better bass overall.People say Sundara sounds more like the HE-560 than the HE400i thats supposed to be replacing, but I am concerned that some say it has less bass than the HE-560. Anyone tried this out out? Pauldgroot, if/when my replacement band breaks, I'll get inlineModel is ready to print, let me know if there is any interest. Some assembly will be required.

Do you still have the HE560 around so you're doing a/b comparison?
Just a couple of hours overlap, the HE-560 is on it’s way back to Adorama now.Do you still have the HE560 around so you're doing a/b comparison?
