I just realized how delicate that plastic frame that holds the cups are. Worst build quality ever.

This isn't any coincidence or random occurrences. There's consistency, which shows poor QC and build choices. I see similar spots from the pics where it cracks just like on mine.

I cross my fingers for you too seeing how close your serial # are to mine. I can send you pix of what i did to stop the cracks..may be good preventative measure...essentially entails taking a thin strip of metal and using jb weld to epoxy it to the back of the yolks..

My Batman ones have their original yoke. They're old enough to have the original screw-in headphone cables. No issues.

I just noticed a crack on mine. I think I heard it crack when I try to move the cups and probably a little too much than the plastic frame could take. That plastic frame is such a huge mistake in material quality. How can you overlook something like that for a product that cost 100s of dollars? Or even this happen to a product that costs 100s of dollars?

I didn't drop it, or put much force on the cup frame. It's suppose to be built to withstand force when you move the cups, but for these, obviously isn't the case. I think these will crack over time even from from moving the frame from putting it on your head. That's how delicate these are I think.

I feel your pain SiverEars. In my case it was two headbands, the original one & the replacement & I was also very careful with them. This ridiculous headband situation has become unacceptable. The aggravation alone became overwhelming for me, just hoping that nothing happened every time I put the headphones on my head & then having to deal with the whole situation once they did break.

Hmm, this reflects poorly on Hifiman. I think we as consumers should stop buying their products until they get serious about their QC. We all like good sounding headphones, but it is a headache to keep replacing them. I have been a long time Hifiman supporter, and own few headphones from their line up.

could someone tell me in numbers how many people bought the HE-560, and how many of them ended up with issues? Do we have a Hifiman representative on Headfi?

HiFiman is one of the sponsor for Headfi, so they should be listening to the community

I would be able to recreate the yokes in CAD, 3d print them in ABS and ship them if there is interest in them. I could do this for less than the $50 charged by Hifiman.

You will need to break open your broken yokes and take out the metal insert, transfer this to the replacement and glue the two parts together.

I did the same process here to adapt de HD600 to a HE-560 band.

Is that an HD650 in the HE560 yoke? Looks very cool.

Hey @XxyzyxX where did you get the metal strips? That looks like a cool idea to add a bit of reinforcement.

I really like the HE560 cables over the Edition X's cables. I thought if my HE560 breaks, I'd return them to Adorama and just buy those HE560 cables separately. Turns out those cables together retail for the sale price of the HE560 from adorama! That sale price is a ridiculously good deal especially with the balanced cable thrown in, which normally isn't included. If only they weren't breaking so much.

I'm petrified as I bought mine off another head-fier about a month or so ago. He said he purchased them straight from HiFiMAN and also said he had them for just a short time. I'm thinking it could be from that same batch? So far so good (hope I just didn't jinx myself) but at this point, that doesn't mean Schiit. I'm SOL if these break.
