Well, Audeze are notorious for their high prices in EU, know that from a local dealer. Recently the price got even higher and he decided simply not to carry Audeze anymore as he'd make as much money on his 100$ headphones as on the Audeze per sold unit if he'd want his prices to be competitive.

That's one of the reasons I never got to Audeze even though I wanted. Getting a reasonable price in EU was too much trouble. Seems like some great dealers within the US aren't even allowed to ship them to EU...
Not that the US prices are cheap anyway.

I just got my DHL tracking number for the HE-560. Shipping from Hong Kong to Michigan... not sure how long that will take, but I look forward to listening to these (and comparing them to my PM-1)

While I agree that the pricing models around the world don't make any sense, I'd like to suggest that one of you guys start a "why VAT sucks" thread or similar where we can discuss this in detail there and stay OT here. Thank you.

Speaking of which, I received an email this morning that my HE560s have shipped.

I didn't read all the talk about headphone prices in the last two pages so pardon me if it was written there...but has anyone posted what was the declared value\duty costs when they received the he-560?

Mine just shipped today from HK (i'm in quebec) which is great considering hifiman told me they would ship from the US when they had received them and that this wouldn't even be this week. So to those waiting, don't despair! I'll probably get to compare them directly to the PM-1 before the return date after all.

North Americans, and especially Canadians, do share if you're getting hit with customs or what not. I want to see if Hifiman is declaring low or not.

Did those that are having them shipped from Hong Kong DHL pay for expedited shipping?

Maybe the "too low" is a problem if declaring it as a goods/service. Hifiman always gifted it to me and told me to gift it back to them when sending stuff back for repairs and replacement.

I absolutely agree with you that taxes are way too high in the EU, but we really can't do much about that.

Revolutions have happened over taxation.  Just sayin'

I do not understand, when I bought my HE-500 a year ago they did not declare low and I paid full taxes.

The box came without invoice on the outside, so they just based it on a lucky guess I suppose. I'm happy with the 50€ charge. My LCD-2 cost me 200€ extra
