Sounds familiar when I go HE-500 -> Iphone
But how come a focused centerstage be a good thing then?

the centerstage focus is the mixing of both left and right channels to place images between two points. In that staging, instruments (or singers) are placed from far left to far right places across that image. They hold their positions instead of it all sounding like it's stuck in the center of your head. IMO LIke a horn holding between the left ear and the center. This is strictly a horizontal axis view, not depth or vertical.Sounds familiar when I go HE-500 -> Iphone

Is upgrading from HD650 ($350 used) to HE-500 worth the double price?
Yes, absolutely for me. I would even choose my HE500s over my HD800s.
around 550? maybe?
