Would about 350$ for a used pair be good? Would. My. Dx80 be plenty of nice Dac/amp for. It? My mojo was stolen...

Yes, based on my experience with the less powerful DP-X1 driving the 400i nicely, I would suspect the DX80 would be up to the task quite nicely.

Really sorry to hear about the mojo

I think that's a darn good price for the sound, and it always helps if the unit is in good condition. I got my 400i for $350 and it is the best $ for sound I have. A lot of people think the k7xx is a better value (I own both), but the planar resolution of the 400i makes the k7xx sound a bit grainy to me.

One more question: is Fiio X3 (first or second generation) sufficient to drive the HE-400i? Can you comment on sound quality of this player? I would prefer an integrated solution rather than the player + the amp. Can you recommend some cheap (under 150 USD) integrated devices?

Yes, maybe: depends on how loud you listen, if you go back a page or two there was discussion on how much power is needed to drive the HE-400i but it is also depends on how loud you listen.  The X3 and X3ii will drive my HE-400i to my listening level of around 70db quite easily, using high gain (X3 volume at 80/120, X3ii volume at 85/120)

Sound quality is quite good with either DAP, like the X3 a little better, bass kicks a touch more and highs are smoother to me.

Agreed with @DavidA, the FiiO X3 will be enough to drive the HE-400i well. I haven't exactly heard the X3 first gen, but I used to have the FiiO E17 (which the first gen X3 is heavily based off of) and I do greatly prefer the 2nd gen to that on the 400i. But that's mostly due to sound signature, and not so much headphone driving picture.

Got a new 400i coming Friday, I can't wait it's my first full headphone ever, and my first open back, I sure hope it makes electronic music sound good

I really enjoyed electronic music with the 400i. Now keep in mind this is a planar headphone and planar bass at first may seem less impactful, but in short order you should gain an appreciation (hopefully you will) for how very visceral and detailed planar bass can be. I mention bass, but of course that isn't all you will appreciate with the 400i. Pretty solid choice for a first headphone mate and if the DX80 has modest warmth to it which I think I have read it does, should be a nice combination.

I just bought a used pair for around 67$ + shipping on amazon.co.uk from a very reputable seller, it said it comes with earphones only + extra earbuds.

I don't have high expectations but I had to try. As long as they actually work I supposed I'll be happy, I can always buy or use replacement parts if it doesn't have cables or headband.

That's what it said. I contacted the seller for a more detailed description.

My guess is they messed up and it's actually the RE-400i.
