HFM replied via PM and said that the 560 case works for the 400i.

It didn't sound like a ringing endorsement for it being a perfect fit, but it sounds like it will get the job done.

Thank you!
I will get one on order!

The bass does seem to get better with burn in.. i think im still a little dissapointed the 400i wasnt a improved 400.. the 400i tho better. Retains none of the few qualities that made the 400 one of the most talked about threads this forum has. The few qualities te 400 had are bass and spaciousness. Which the 400 has niether

Is this supposed to be normal? I opened up the grill to have a quick look inside. There are fingerprint smudges I'm assuming from factory workers.

Edit:

I took a pic from the other side, it looks better.

Huh, it's exactly the same for me on my 400i. I thought I was the only one with fingerprint smudges on one side but the other clean.

Whoever is making the right side honestly doesn't really give a **** that they're working on headphones that sell for 500 dollars.

Smudges negatively affect the bass. Clean that ish up, and you'll gain an extra 3db of lower bass.

Are you being sarcastic.

Either way they need to be more strict with quality control.

Left can maker is a pretty cool guy.

If the case fits well with HE560s, there is no reason why it shouldn't fit equally as well for HE400i. The two headphones have identical headbands, identical earpads, and identically-shaped/size cups. The only thing different with their finish is the wood veneer vs lacquered plastic cup, and that has no impact on fitting of course.

  That was my impression.

I believe someone said earlier that the dimensions were every so slightly different, but hadn't bothered to double check.  I thought maybe the earcups were slightly thicker/thinner.

I recently bought the HE-560i travel case for my HE-400i. I have to agree, it's ever so slightly different. It fits, but I need to squeeze it a little. It's tight around the corners of the metal headband. Oh and, the cable has to be disconnected from the headphones.

If you have these issues fitting the 400i into the case, then HE560 would have the exact same issues.

Eating potatoe crisps while you work on assembling headphones is not cool!

First of all, I hated that stuff when it first came out.  I pretty much hate it now, 30 years later

But more important, those recordings have average bass at best.  I think others have been right steering you to bass-heavy closed cans.  For me, I just up the EQ at about 60 Hz when listening to that kind of classic rock, which is rare.  Analyze those recordings with Audacity or something: there is virtually NO activity below 40 Hz.  Nadda, zilch.

Neutral-tending headphones will probably never make you happy.  Don't torture yourself!  And stay away from the Alpha Dogs- they're about as neutral as I have ever heard.
just a fast google search showed boston selling 30 million albums. Yes 35 million and kansas 20 million. Its not too late for you to a appreciate some of the top selling artists of all time.

Sorry dude, but after King Crimson, Black Sabbath, and Frank Zappa, I doubt that arena pop will ever grace my headphones.

+1 Frank Zappa and King Crimson are fantastic. A friend gave me cd's of Yes and I rarely listen to that type of pop music. And I rarely base my listening habits on how many chaps listen to a particular group.
