1000+ Head-Fier
Sorry to hear that, hope the return is processed quickly and you get an amp that will drive the HE-400i correctly as they are really good.
that is a no go for me

Bummer, feel sorry for you, good luck.
I really hope you can solve it.
Thanx !!!
I read somewhere that Capella doesn't pair well with HE-560 (90db). 400i is a little louder. You can always try to sell it here on head-fi, it's practically new. It's not a bad amp, only a bad match for 400i.
Thanx !!!
that's what i am thinking about as wellbut before that will try to pair it with few other headphones and maybe will keep it as a second amp
now I do regret that I sold my ath-m50x and ultrasone hfi-580, have a feeling would have been a nice pairing for electronic music

The OP says the amp works well with the 400i and fairly well with the 560. When you wrote to the seller, he did not admit that the unit may be defective??
That is a shame.
Have you tried it with different DACs ? They also mention a gain control knob, I guess that you played with that...
I see that you have an O2. Isn't that a good/great amp for he400i?
ok, so this morning after looking for some time finally I found my Phiaton MS 400 and connected it to capella and it sounds loud indeed, so at least this confirms that it is not a defective unit but just not good for he400i, not good at all![]()
Any news?
