The he500 is a tremendous buy at it's current price point, regardless to a degree of future offerings. There may or may not be problems with design and production with the first release of the new hp's. The he500 is tried and true and a sure thing. If it weren't for the fact that the weight is an issue for me, I'd have already pulled the trigger on it. 
 
Only you can decide if you want to wait and see what the new hp's ultimately have to offer.

I would wait. I liked the 400 for EDM, but still had to EQ quite a bit.

It seems That He-400i will be more similar to He-500 than He-400.
So I have to try He-400 and then I can sell the old for the new One.

I think it's a great time to buy a cheap HE-400 or HE-500. You can always sell it later and if you buy it at a good price now, you likely won't lose much if you sell it later - especially if there's plenty of HiFiMan hype following the new models.

That's not bad, although you guys who are looking to get a pair, check out the Head Fi for Sale threads! Chances are you'll find an HE 500 with a nice expensive Cable, some aftermarket [+stock] pads and some other goodies for about teh same price!

I'm going to purchase a pair of He-400 from Head-Direct...but the site seems to be down...
