Fang!
Please don't throw the HE-500 off the market :p
Really though, I wonder how these compare in actual SQ rather than things like "transparency and soundstage and comfort" because those are the least of my concerns right now in a headphone

Aesthetics... probably better on my head than looking at them on someone else's head.  I don't have a problem with the HE-500s' fit and comfort with my modded 3rd party pad.  Maybe these will usher in a new era of geek cool

Price... the HE-560s would have to be substantially better for me to sell my HE-500s.  Maybe some lucky person will be able to put the HE-560s head-to-head with the OPPO PM-1s.  I volunteer

Which brings up an interesting point: there should be plenty of nicely broken in HE-500s for sale in about 4-5 months

Fun times, no doubt.

How do we know there will be a HE-6 successor?  Where does the 560 stand in the line up?

Maybe Jade 2? Probably won't be shown until next CES though.

I may be stupid but wouldn't Jade 2 be the successor to... Jade?

No no of course. Just saying the highest performance product from HFM next is probably the 'stat.

I wonder why he560 when the other one is HE400i and not HE460? Hifiman needs an upgrade program so I can upgrade my HE500 to an HE560 :D

actually i'm going to do a rather large comparison demo at the woo showroom in new jersey in a month. they have just about every high end headphone available for demo except any hifimans. That is fine though.  While i am going there to find my ideal headphone and POSSIBLY purchase a nice duet, my main concern is whether or not the price upgrade is worth the sound upgrade.  The level of resolution in the he-400 for only $399 is outstanding and if i don't feel that the others are that much more musical/engaging/ than the 400 then i will simply upgrade to the he-560 or he-500 to get the frequency response i am looking for.  Also looking forward to the slightly slower attack.
