Yep, i am not a "cable believer", but the the cable of the HE-500 is very bad for the price. Fragile and microphonic. Very good new if the cable of the HE-560 is better. You go on the right way, Hifiman's crew ! You rocks

HE-400i will come one or two months after HE-560. We are not sure yet. The driver is being tweak very heavily. We want to make it sound better directly out of a mobile phone without an external amp. 

It is pretty much unanimous and I have yet to see a counter comment but atleast ten comments of the likes:
He500 balance w he400 bass.

Anything less will be a dissapointment. But fulfilling that would make the best value of any hp period. Hifiman already has the best value but the above will make it undeniably so.

I dont recall any information on how they would be tuned.  people assumed and hoped, but I don't believe hifiman gave any info on this.  unless I missed it, which is possible.
 
I don't know how they can tune the 400i to sound like the 500 with the change of single sided magnets.  I expect the 400i to be a whole new monster.
