Also awaiting Jerg's impressions.

I speculate that there are many who've sold off their hp's and gear in anticipation of the new hifiman offerings. I know that I have. I'm down to just my hd650 now (it will never leave). And now I'm just waiting on some solid impressions to decide between the 400i and 560. If the 560 really appealed to me, I'd spend the money. But I'm guessing that the 400i is closer to my preferred signature.

Let me try to stay on topic here because I can't help to ask:

Being that the hd650 is my fav can of all time and u have it with the cack do you think the crack helps out the hd650 sub bass and do u think the crack would be good for Hifiman?

I initially wanted hd650 with more sub bass and the LCD 2 was boring. That's why I liked the 500 better overall but like the hd650 dynamics.

A lush tube amp on a Hifiman might get me close. I dunno

the crack is not a good match for the hifiman cans.  the impedance is mismatched.  sounds like ass.  You don't need a lot of amp do drive most orthos.

^thanks
I also tried to be sneaky and ask about the 650

regarding its sub bass?  The orthos will have better bass then the 650 by far if thats what your asking.  If you need more sub bass on the 650, EQ it.

no not really...thanks though

I have had he400, he500, lcd2, modded fostexs, and hd650 and I understand the subbass. To me  equing sub bass on the 650 SUCKS straws.

Basically wondering if the crack helps the 650 subbass and I knew I was wrong for asking it here so I tried to make it relative to the thread here but failed.

your response is a bit snarkey, but I'll pretend it wasn't.  The crack is one of the best amps for the 650's.  Its performance depends on what tubes you put in.  Having said that, the 650 is not a sub bass monster anyway.

Cant wait to hear the new hifiman cans.
