Which one should i pick? I saw the He-300's online for $150 so that's a definite consideration. I listen to mostly alternative but i pretty much listen to anything. I currently have Sennheiser HD 550s, and i really like them.

What headphone amplifier (& DAC) do you currently use?

Well i have to choose from a Harmon Kardon 330c, a Marantz 2270, a Scott 344b, and a Sansui au-919. Don't have a dac but dont need one, im an analog man. Plus the internal dac in the Pioneer DV58 is pretty damn good.

I own a pair HE-300 and DT 990 (consumer version, not the pro). They are both warm sounding headphones with great bass. The Beyer has a superior soundstage and more extending trebles. The Hifman has wonderful mids and the bass has more impact imo. Both are extremely comfortable to wear for longer periods. The Hifiman has the advantage of a removable cable too. $150 is a great deal for these HP's.

I guess between the two I'd go with the he300. If you had the budget, I'd move up to the he400 though.

On your budget then I'd look at the fostex t50 modded or mod it yourself. Great ortho hp when modded!!
