I had my Edition X on the For Sale forum here for as low as $1099, and I didn't get anyone interested even at that price, and they were NIB!

Not in the market for a HP atm, I just wanted to say that imho both hek and hex will only be competitive at ~half-price .. and btw, I would probably choose hd800S or dharma from the new crop.
Wish you luck with the sale!

I do not need another pair but I will take them of your hands is the price is right, that is the American way to say ,Bob Barker will be proud and happy to confirm this.
They are so bad with the computer set-ups and overpriced Chord product that I will take them from you at $500..they are just that bad.

The reasoning for discouraging the use on high power devices is to prevent distortion. The high sensitivity limits the headroom you will get. This is not to say these are intended for portable use only, rather that you can achieve excellent sound with less expensive equipment. If you would like a headphone that scales more with better equipment, we recommend the HE-1000 over the Edition X.

If you are operating under reasonable circumstances, and using common sense, you should not damage the driver!

However, we have experiences HE-6 drivers failing when haphazardly connected to dedicated power amps.

hhhhhh that made my day!

It's a strange intervention by HFMan but I don't read it as saying you can't use full size gear, just to be prudent in terms of output power.

Clearly they had a very specific market in mind which maybe they could have been more up front.

I think they need to clarify the issue given the reaction here

an yea I think they have started to do that more now

As I said before the HEX is probably primarily made to be used with a good portable player as Mojo, Hugo, AK 380 and so on at home or at hotel rooms. The market for those players are big and the demand are increasing IMO.

I have not heard the HEX and don’t know how Dr Fang et al reasons. But like B-60 I believe Hifiman plan was to offer a headphone that sounded as good as they could make it while it been used with a portable music player. In Asia portable solutions seems to be the standard for driving headphones. The people that uses higher end headphones normally use something better than a cellphone or at least a cellphone together with a portable amp, if I have understand it correct. With a portable dac/amp maybe it’s better with a headphone that has a slightly roll of treble and a more forgiving nature than for example a HEK.

Wow , you are just in front of me, I just low-ball it at $500 , She is all yours, good luck @bimmer100

I'm not going to be insulting. I'm fair. his asking price is more than fair.

I paid significantly more for my pair, and don't regret it to be honest.

This headphone has more mixed reviews than I would expect. too many low ballers and bashers. The headphone is selling just fine, I still prefer this more than my HD800's

The HD800's as is, suck imho..except sound stage, but they are glaring high pitched peaky sound that makes my ears bleed. But with sonarworks, it's fantastic and truly sounds spectacular. Anyhow, it's about as enjoyable as the HEX now. Soon i'll have my warranty replacement pair of HEX tomorrow and do more comparisons again. I just started using sonarworks after I sent my HEX back to hifiman. yup! :)

What was your warranty issue with the HEX?  Loose left ear cup gimbals, or?

What was your warranty issue with the HEX?  Loose left ear cup gimbals, or?

So you are not selling your HeX... Hmmk.

Well I had three warranty issues with my pair. One of them being the left gimbal being loose and it could bottom out and scuff the black chrome finish over time. They should be able to fix that, but I got a new pair since the right speaker connection was loose and cutting out, and both SE cables were fraying at the base of the 2.5mm connectors. Here is the kicker, I hadn't even used the cables. I plugged in the 6.3mm one for about 30-60min to listen and compare . But have been using the he1000's 4pin balanced cable the whole time I've owned them. But the he1000's have over several hundred hours of listening and no fraying at the ends of the 2.5mm. I just got a bad overal hex. I guess it's not really that common. Only a few cases have been reported. So I'm not stressing. I know a lot of companies have hiccups when they release a new model. They soon iron out the bugs and get them fixed and issues properly addressed. I still love hifiman as the customer service has been good despite the fact they are moving their warehouse to New York as we speak. This has cause an undesirable wait time in their rma process. I don't even want to get into that. But I'm human and understand and am reasonable. Oh yes! I said it, I'm reasonable. I expect a lot from this headphone and its delivered well to most of my expectations. The biggest gripe I have now is that they don't have a mobile case for it. It needs to happen... Let me say it again. Hifiman!!! Listen up!!! Make us a mobile case for the HEX and HEK! Immediately! I am shocked this wasn't done for the release for the HeX. But I really hope they jump on this task soon. I would have rather had a fancy mobile case than some useless leather wrapped heavy box that is awkward to open and close.
I hope they make a case that is much nicer than the he4-5-6 round speaker models mobile case. The gold foil emblem looks kinda cheap imho.
I like oppo's case for the pm3, nice material and low profile. But the HEK and hex need more padding and structure . Better materials please! Maybe a nice embossed hifiman logo into the case, or even a real metal logo that is recessed into the case so it won't catch on things while being transported. Soooooooo, jump to it hifiman! Let's see a Mobile case!
I said it enough, but those who agree, please speak up. I would hope we could get their attention on this subject.

I had the problem of a loose gimbal on the left cup, and it would snap in and out!  I would use my fingers and push it together, and when I put it on my head it would snap back out.  Got a second pair yesterday as a replacement and the same exact thing with the left ear cup.gimbal being loose and snaping when pushed back in.  The left ear cup 2.5mm connector was also loose causing an intermittent sound.  Hifiman customer service was good at replacing the first unit, but now the same problem with the second pin.  C'mon, this is a second pair at an $1799 price, something I didn't expect on a cheap knockoff of an HE-1000!  They want to send me another replacement, for the replacement.  Now that would be a lot of time away from home for a $1799 headphone and they still haven't contacted me about how they were going to prevent this from happening to others that make the purchase.  There were others on this forum that stated the gimbal was loose on the left side!

i'm a bit upset as I spent almost 60usd to ship the headphones to them, and will be furious if tomorrow come to find out the replacement pair has the same issues. I will raise a storm at that point and demand shipping reimbursement. I surely hope they get a new batch of HEX that does not have these issues. They should take care of their customers. but I asked them multiple times if they would check the new pair to be sure this problem doesn't exist with the replacement pair. They said no, they ship a sealed unit and won't handle the headphones. :/ uhm.... ok? well next time I'm asking for a return shipping label. This is becoming to the point it will approach the cost of a HEK if the shipping costs pile up for return replacement cans. :(

gosh, i'm bummed now to hear your replacement pair was junk.

Wish you luck, but if it is an unopened pair how would they know.  My replacement shipped from Urbania, IL, defective unit went to Delaware address, so the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing.  Do they care?  It is just easier to send a boxed replacement, for ever,....... until death do us part!

Maybe warranty replacements would best be packaged as 100% quality, and ship from China!

So I've called about 4 times trying to get a working tracking number. They promised to have it to me by tomorrow. As I paid a grip to get it to them last week, it's still not shipped! They said it's just usps and they are slow getting their tracking updated. It's 2pm, and usps hasn't even done a pickup scan. Something is fishy.
And I find it funny when you say they should have 100% quality checked headphones for warranty replacements. I say 1800usd headphones should be 100% quality and not need to have so many warranty claims. This is the problem with Chinese products as sometimes things get overlooked and massive amounts of defective products are flooded into the market. Hifiman, hopefully will step up their game with quality control. This product should not have any issues, I'm crossing my fingers my hex will show up tomorrow and not have problems. I have no idea where they shipped from. Because usps hasn't even picked them up. :/
